EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN:
-------------------------------------------------------
PATTERN:
See diagram A.1.
INCREASE TIP (evenly spaced):
To work out how to increase evenly, count the total number of stitches on the needle (e.g. 51 stitches) and divide by the number of increases to be made (e.g. 16) = 3.2.
In this example, increase by making 1 yarn over after approx. each 3rd stitch. On the next round work the yarn overs twisted to avoid holes.
DECREASE TIP (for mid under sleeve):
Decrease 1 stitch on either side of the marker thread as follows: Work until there are 3 stitches left before the marker thread, knit 2 together, knit 2 (marker thread sits between these 2 stitches), slip 1 stitch as if to knit, knit 1 and pass the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch.
CASTING-OFF TIP:
To avoid the cast-off edge being tight you can cast off with a larger size needle. If the edge is still tight, make 1 yarn over after approx. each 4th stitch at the same time as casting off; the yarn overs are cast off as normal stitches.

START THE PIECE HERE:

JUMPER – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE:
The neck and yoke are worked in the round with circular needle, from mid back and top down. The yoke is divided for body and sleeves and the body is continued in the round with circular needle. The sleeves are worked in the round with double pointed needles/short circular needle, top down.
NECK:
Cast on 51-54-57-60-63-66 stitches with circular needle size 7 mm and Andes. Knit 1 round. Now work rib (knit 1, purl 2) over all stitches for 16 cm.
Change to circular needle size 8 mm and insert 1 marker mid back; the yoke will be measured from this marker!
YOKE:
Knit 1 round and purl 1 round. Then work A.1 over all stitches AT THE SAME TIME as you increase 16-16-15-16-16-16 stitches evenly spaced each time 1st row in A.1 is worked in height – read INCREASE TIP. Increase a total of 6-7-8-8-9-10 times = 147-166-177-188-207-226 stitches. Continue with A.1 until the piece measures 18-20-21-23-25-27 cm from the marker; on the last round adjust the number of stitches to 148-164-180-188-208-224 stitches. On the next round divide the yoke for body and sleeves: Work the first 22-25-27-28-32-35 stitches (= half the back piece), place the next 30-32-36-38-40-42 stitches on a thread for the sleeve, cast on 6-6-6-8-8-8 new stitches on the needle (= in side under sleeve), work the next 44-50-54-56-64-70 stitches (= front piece), place the next 30-32-36-38-40-42 stitches on a thread for the sleeve, cast on 6-6-6-8-8-8 new stitches on the needle (= in side under sleeve), work the remaining 22-25-27-28-32-35 stitches ( = half the back piece). Body and sleeves are finished separately. THE PIECE IS NOW MEASURED FROM HERE!
BODY:
= 100-112-120-128-144-156 stitches. Continue with A.1 until the piece measures 26-26-27-27-27-27 cm. Work 1 round where you increase 8-8-9-10-12-12 stitches evenly spaced = 108-120-129-138-156-168 stitches. Change to circular needle size 7 mm and work rib (knit 1, purl 2) over all stitches for 8 cm. Cast off with knit over knit and purl over purl – read CASTING-OFF TIP – it is important the cast-off edge is not tight. The jumper measures approx. 56-58-60-62-64-66 cm from the shoulder down.
SLEEVE:
Place the 30-32-36-38-40-42 stitches from the thread on the one side of the piece on short circular needle/double pointed needles size 8 mm and knit up 1 stitch in each of the 6-6-6-8-8-8 stitches cast on under the sleeve = 36-38-42-46-48-50 stitches. Insert a marker thread in the middle of the 6-6-6-8-8-8 stitches under the sleeve. Allow the thread to follow your work onwards; it will be used when decreasing under the sleeve. Start the round at the marker thread and work stocking stitch in the round.
When the piece measures 4 cm from the division decrease 2 stitches mid under sleeve – read DECREASE TIP. Decrease like this every 9-8-6-4-4-3 cm a total of 4-5-6-8-8-9 times = 28-28-30-30-32-32 stitches. Continue with stocking stitch until the sleeve measures 39-38-37-36-35-34 cm (there is approx. 4 cm left to finished length; you can try the jumper on and work to desired length). NOTE: Shorter measurements in larger sizes due to wider neck and longer yoke. Knit 1 round where the number of stitches is adjusted to 27-27-30-30-33-33 stitches. Change to double pointed needles size 7 mm and work rib (knit 1, purl 2) over all stitches for 4 cm. Cast off with knit over knit and purl over purl – remember CASTING-OFF TIP. The sleeve measures approx. 43-42-41-40-39-38 cm from the division. Work the other sleeve in the same way.
