START THE PIECE HERE:

-------------------------------------------------------

HEAD BAND - SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE:
Work back and forth circular needle and sew together mid back.

HEAD BAND:
Cast on 27 stitches on circular needle size 3 mm. Work pattern as follows: 1 edge stitch in GARTER STITCH – read explanation above, work A.1 over the next 24 stitches, work first stitch in A.1, 1 edge stitch in garter stitch. REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION! Continue back and forth like this. When head band measures 49 cm - adjust to finish after a whole repetition of vertically, cast off. Cut the yarn but leave enough yarn to sew the head band together. Sew together head band with grafting/kitchener stitches inside cast-on and cast-off edge. Cut and fasten the yarn.

-------------------------------------------------------

NECK WARMER - SHORT SUMMARY OF PIECE:
Work piece first in the round on circular needle down to vent in each side. Then cast off 2 stitches in each side for vent, and finish each part separately.

NECK WARMER:
Cast on 120-132 stitches on circular needle size 4 mm with Merino Extra Fine. Work 1 ridge in GARTER STITCH - read explanation above. Then work A.2 in the round on circular needle. REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION! When A.2 has been worked, repeat the first 14 rounds in diagram. Work next round in pattern as before (i.e. 15th round in diagram) as follows: Cast off the first 2 stitches, work the next 58-64 stitches and slip them on a stitch holder, cast off the next 2 stitches, work the next 58-64 stitches. Then work back and forth with pattern as before and work the outermost 2 stitches in each side in garter stitch. When 3 stripes have been worked with rib from where stitches were cast off for vent in each side - adjust to finish after a ridge (i.e. 2nd, 14th or 26th row in diagram), work 1 ridge over all stitches on needle. Cast off.
Slip stitches from stitch holder back on circular needle and work as first part.
