SIZE:
The piece measures approx. 8 cm at the widest point and 12 cm at the highest point.
MATERIALS:
DROPS AIR from Garnstudio (belongs to yarn group C)
50 g colour 22, yellow
A left-over of colour 23, coral reef for the beak
A left-over of black for the eyes
A left-over of yellow for the loop
1 chick weighs approx. 8 g
KNITTING TENSION:
20 stitches in width and 46 rows in height with English rib = 10 x 10 cm.
NEEDLES:
DROPS DOUBLE POINTED NEEDLES SIZE 3 MM.
Needle size is only a guide. If you get too many stitches on 10 cm, change to a larger needle size. If you get too few stitches on 10 cm, change to a smaller needle size.
ACCESSORIES: Wadding.

START THE PIECE HERE:

EASTER CHICK – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE:
The piece is worked in the round with double pointed needles from the tail to the beak, in English rib.
EASTER CHICK:
Cast on 6 stitches divided between 4 double pointed needles size 3 mm, with yellow.
Knit 1 round.
Then work pattern as follows:
Work A.1 (= 2 stitches), A.2 (= 3 stitches), A.3 (= 1 stitch).
REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION!
When the increases in A.1 and A.3 are finished there are 30 stitches on the needles.
When the increases in A.2 are finished there are 42 stitches on the needles.
When A.1 to A.3 have been worked 1 time in height there are 10 stitches on the needles.
Fill the chick with wadding.
On the next round knit all stitches together 2 and 2 = 5 stitches.
Change to coral reef. Knit 4 rounds (= beak).
Cut the strand and pull it through the stitches, pull tight and fasten well.
Make 2 quadruple knots, using black, for the eyes and fasten on each side of the head.
Thread a yellow strand through 2nd and 3rd increase on the top of the head for a loop and tie the ends together.
