Knitted cushion-cover for Christmas in DROPS Merino Extra Fine. Theme: Christmas.

MEASUREMENTS:
27 x 45 cm. The cover fits cushion-size 30 x 50 cm; it needs to be stretched slightly to sit well.

MATERIALS:
DROPS MERINO EXTRA FINE from Garnstudio (belongs to yarn group B)
150 g colour 11, red
100 g colour 01, off white

KNITTING TENSION:
22 stitches in width and 30 rows in height with stocking stitch = 10 x 10 cm.

NEEDLES:
DROPS CIRCULAR NEEDLE SIZE 3.5 MM: Length 80 cm for stocking stitch.
Needle size is only a guide. If you get too many stitches on 10 cm, change to a larger needle size. If you get too few stitches on 10 cm, change to a smaller needle size.

INNER CUSHION: 30 x 50 cm.

PATTERN:

RIDGE/GARTER STITCH (worked in the round):
1 ridge in height = 2 rounds; Knit 1 round and purl 1 round.

START THE PIECE HERE:

CUSHION-COVER – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE:
The piece is worked in the round with circular needle. It is sewn together top and bottom.

COVER:
Cast on 196 stitches with circular needle size 3.5 mm with red and work 1 RIDGE – see description above. Work 2 rounds with stocking stitch. Then work according to diagram A.1 for the whole round (= 49 repeats). REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION! Repeat the diagram in height in this way until the piece measures approx. 26 cm; adjust so you finish after row 3 with off-white as the background colour (so the pattern is the same on both sides of the cover). Work 2 rounds with red and stocking stitch. Work 1 ridge and loosely cast off. The piece measures approx. 27 cm.

ASSEMBLY:
Fold the piece so the beginning of the round lies towards one side. Sew the stitches together along the top – sew in the outermost stitch so the seam is flat. Insert the inner cushion in the cover and sew the stitches together at the bottom in the same way.
