SIZE:
The piece measures approx.: width = 20 cm, height = 22 cm.

MATERIALS:
DROPS PARIS from Garnstudio (belongs to yarn group C)
100 g colour 43, forest green
50 g colour 17, off white
50 g colour 44, brown
50 g colour 41, mustard

KNITTING TENSION:
18 stitches in width and 23 rows in height with stocking stitch = 10 x 10 cm.

NEEDLES:
DROPS CIRCULAR NEEDLE SIZE 4.5 MM: Length 40 cm for stocking stitch and pattern.
Needle size is only a guide. If you get too many stitches on 10 cm, change to a larger needle size. If you get too few stitches on 10 cm, change to a smaller needle size.

EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN:

RIDGE/GARTER STITCH (worked in the round):
1 ridge in height = 2 rounds; Knit 1 round and purl 1 round.

PATTERN: 
See diagram A.1. The diagram shows all the rows seen from the right side. The whole diagram is worked in stocking stitch.

START THE PIECE HERE:

POT-HOLDER – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE:
The piece is worked in the round with circular needle. The piece is folded and sewn together top and bottom to finish.

POT-HOLDER:
Cast on 72 stitches with circular needle size 4.5 mm and forest green. Purl 1 round then work 2 RIDGES – read description above. Insert 1 marker thread at the beginning of the round. Work pattern in stocking stitch in the round and according to diagram A.1 (= 6 repeats of 12 stitches). REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION! When diagram A.1 has been completed in height, continue with forest green as follows: Purl 1 round, knit 1 round and purl 1 round. The next round is worked as follows: Knit the first 36 stitches, cast on 14 new stitches for the loop, knit the remaining 36 stitches on the round. Cast off with purl. Fold the pot-holder double so the marker thread is on one side and the loop on the other. The pot-holder measures approx. 20 x 22 cm. Sew it together, top and bottom, with small stitches.
