Knitted cup-cosy in DROPS Merino Extra Fine. The piece is worked in Fisherman’s rib. Theme: Christmas.

SIZES:
Small cosy: Approx. 8 ½ cm in height; fits cup circumference approx. 20 cm.
Large cosy: Approx. 10 cm in height; fits cup circumference approx. 22 cm.

MATERIALS:
DROPS MERINO EXTRA FINE from Garnstudio (belongs to yarn group B)
50-50 g colour 31, forest green
50-50 g colour 18, green

1 cosy weighs approx. 18-25 g

KNITTING TENSION:
21 stitches in width with Fisherman’s rib = 10 cm.

NEEDLES:
DROPS NEEDLES SIZE 3 MM.
Needle size is only a guide. If you get too many stitches on 10 cm, change to a larger needle size. If you get too few stitches on 10 cm, change to a smaller needle size.

EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN:

RIDGE/GARTER STITCH (worked back and forth):
Knit all rows.
1 ridge in height = Knit 2 rows.

FISHERMAN’S RIB:
ROW 1 (= wrong side): Purl all stitches.
ROW 2 (= right side): Knit 1, * purl 1, knit 1 in stitch under the next stitch *, repeat from *-* until there are 2 stitches left on the row, purl 1 and knit 1.
ROW 3 (= wrong side): Knit 1, * knit 1 in stitch under the next stitch, purl 1 *, work from *-* until there are 2 stitches left on the row, knit 1 in stitch under the next stitch and knit 1.
Repeat ROWS 2 and 3 onwards.

CUP-COSY – short overview of the piece:
The piece is worked back and forth and sewn together to finish.

COSY:
Cast on 19-23 stitches with needle size 3 mm and Merino Extra Fine. Work 1 RIDGE – read description above. Then continue with FISHERMAN’S RIB – read description above. Continue like this until the piece measures approx. 17-19 cm (or to desired length; the cover should be a couple of centimetres shorter than the circumference of the cup) – adjust so the last row is from the wrong side. Knit 1 row from the right side, work 1 ridge. Cast off with knit on the next row .

ASSEMBLY:
Fold the piece so the cast-on and cast-off edges meet. Sew together in the outermost loop of the outermost stitch. Cut and fasten the strand.
