EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN:

-------------------------------------------------------

RIDGE/GARTER STITCH (worked back and forth):
Knit all rows.
1 ridge in height = Knit 2 rows.

-------------------------------------------------------

START THE PIECE HERE:

-------------------------------------------------------

HAT – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE:
The piece is worked in the round with circular needle, bottom up. Change to double pointed needles when necessary as you decrease towards the top.

HAT:
Cast on 160-168 stitches with circular needle size 3 mm and Alpaca. Continue in the round as follows:
Purl 1 round, then work rib (knit 1, purl 1). REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION! When the piece measures 25-27 cm start to decrease. Insert a marker thread before the first stitch on the round = 1 knitted stitch.
DECREASE 1: * Knit 1, knit the next 2 stitches together (= 1 purled and 1 knitted stitch are knitted together), purl 1 *, work from *-* a total of 40 times on the round (= 40-42 stitches decreased) = 120-126 stitches.
Continue with knit over knit and purl over purl for 3 cm.
DECREASE 2: Knit 1, move the marker thread here (i.e. the marker thread is moved 1 stitch to the left and now the round begins from here), * knit 1, knit the next 2 stitches together (1 purled and 1 knitted stitch are knitted together) *, work from *-* a total of 40-42 times on the round (= 40-42 stitches decreased) = 80-84 stitches. All the purled stitches have now gone.
Work stocking stitch for 2 cm.
DECREASE 3: Knit all stitches together 2 and 2 (= 40-42 stitches decreased) = 40-42 stitches.
Work stocking stitch for 2 cm.
DECREASE 4: Knit all stitches together 2 and 2 (= 20-21 stitches decreased) = 20-21 stitches.
Cut the strand, pull it through the remaining stitches, tighten and fasten well.
The hat measures approx. 33-35 cm from the cast-on edge (approx. 25-27 cm with 7-8 cm turn-up).

-------------------------------------------------------

NECK WARMER – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE:
The piece is worked back and forth in 2 pieces which are then worked together in the round with circular needle.

NECK WARMER:
Cast on 85-93 stitches with circular needle size 3 mm and Alpaca. Purl 1 row from the wrong side then work rib as follows: 1 edge stitch in GARTER STITCH – read description above, (knit 1, purl 1) until there are 2 stitches left on the row, knit 1 and 1 edge stitch in garter stitch. Continue like this back and forth. REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION! When the piece measures 7-8 cm – adjust so the next row is from the right side, place the stitches on a thread. Lay to one side and work the other piece in the same way; but keep the stitches on the needle.

Now work the 2 pieces together as follows: Work as before over the stitches on the needle, cast on 3 new stitches, work from the right side and as before over the stitches on the first piece, cast on 3 new stitches = 176-192 stitches. Continue with rib in the round (knit 1, purl 1). When the piece measures 9-10 cm from where the 2 pieces were joined together (= a total of 16-18 cm) cast off with knit over knit and purl over purl. Cut and fasten the strand.
