Head circumference: approx. 50/52 – 53/54 – 55/57 cm.

MATERIALS:
DROPS KARISMA from Garnstudio (belongs to yarn group B)
50-100-100 g colour 48, wine red
50-50-50 g colour 01, off white

DROPS LIMA from Garnstudio (belongs to yarn group B)
50-100-100 g colour 3609, red
50-50-50 g colour 0100, off white


KNITTING TENSION:
22 stitches in width and 30 rows vertically in stocking stitch and Nordic pattern = 10 x 10 cm.

NEEDLES:
DROPS DOUBLE POINTED NEEDLES SIZE 3.5 mm
DROPS CIRCULAR NEEDLE SIZE 3.5 mm: Length 40 cm for stocking stitch and Nordic pattern.
DROPS CIRCULAR NEEDLE SIZE 3 mm: Length 40 cm for rib.
Needle size is only a suggestion! If you have too many stitches on 10 cm switch to larger needles. If you have too few stitches on 10 cm switch to smaller needles.

EXPLANATION FOR THE PATTERN:

PATTERN: 
See diagram A.1. Work the entire pattern in stocking stitch.

DECREASE TIP (applies to top of hat):
Work until 2 stitches remain before marker, knit these 2 stitches together (= 1 stitch decreased).

START THE PIECE HERE:

HAT - SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE:
Worked in the round on a short circular needle, bottom up. Switch to double pointed needles when needed.  

HAT:
Cast on 100-104-108 stitches on a short circular needle size 3 mm with wine red / red. Knit 1 round. Then work rib in the round knit 2 and purl 2 until rib measures 3 cm. Switch to a short circular needle size 3.5 mm and work A.1 in the round (= 25-26-27 repetitions of 4 stitches). REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION!
Work until piece measures approx. 18-18-19 cm but adjust to finish after a whole stripe with off white (if the piece measures less that this after a whole stripe with off white work with wine red / red without dots until correct measurements). AT THE SAME TIME on last round adjust number of stitches to 100-105-108 stitches (only applies to 6/9 years).
Insert 5-5-6 markers in piece, 20-21-18 stitches between every marker. Work in stocking stitch in the round with wine red / red. AT THE SAME TIME on next round decrease 1 stitch before every marker - read DECREASE TIP = 5-5-6 stitches decreased.
Decrease like this on every other round 0-2-4 times in total and then on every round 9-9-5 times in total = 55-50-54 stitches remain. Knit 3 rounds where all stitches are knitted together 2 by 2 on all three rounds = 7 stitches remain for all sizes. Cut the yarn and pull it through the remaining stitches, tighten together and fasten. Hat measures approx. 22-23-24 cm from top and down.

ASSEMBLY:
Make a pompom with off white with an approx. of diameter 4 cm and fasten it at the tip of the hat.
