EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN:
-------------------------------------------------------
PATTERN:
See diagrams A.1 and A.2 – A.1b and A.2b show how the rounds start and finish.
CROCHET TIP FOR CHAIN STITCH:
If you work outermost on the hook the chain stitch will often be too tight; 1 chain stitch should be as long as 1 treble crochet is wide.

START THE PIECE HERE:
-------------------------------------------------------
BASKET – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE:
The bottom is worked first, in the round from the middle outwards, then the sides are worked with lace pattern.
BASKET:
Work 4 chain stitches with black and hook size 4 mm and fasten them into a ring with 1 slip stitch in the first chain stitch – read CROCHET TIP FOR CHAIN STITCH. Then work the bottom in the round according to diagram A.1 - A.1b shows how the rounds start and finish. After the last round there are 63 treble crochets and the bottom measures approx. 11 cm in diameter. Now work the edge in the round according to diagram A.2. The first round is worked as follows: Work A.2b (shows how the round starts and finishes), * A.2a, skip 3 treble crochets *, repeat from *-* to the end of the round = 9 repeats of A.2a, finish with the slip stitch in A.2b. Continue the pattern shown in the diagram (all stitches on the round are now included in the diagram); in other words, on round 2 do not work in the first and last treble crochet of each repeat and on rounds 3-6 do not work the first 2 and the last 2 treble crochets in each repeat. When round 6 has been completed the piece measures approx. 9 cm from the outermost tip to the bottom (= A.2). Cut and fasten the strand.
