EXPLANATION FOR THE PATTERN:
----------------------------------------------------------
INCREASE TIP:
To calculate how to increase evenly, use the total number of stitches on round (e.g. 100 stitches) and divide stitches by number of increases to be done (e.g. 20) = 5.
In this example increase by picking up the thread between 2 stitches and working this strand twisted to avoid holes. Increase this way after every 5. stitch.
ENGLISH RIB:
ROUND 1: * Knit 1, make 1 yarn over, slip 1 stitch purlwise *, work from *-* the entire round.
ROUND 2: * Make 1 yarn over, slip 1 stitch purlwise, purl yarn over and slipped stitch together *, repeat from *-* the entire round.
ROUND 3: * Knit yarn over and slipped stitch together, 1 yarn over, slip 1 stitch purlwise *, repeat from *-* the entire round.
Repeat rounds 2 and 3.

BERET - SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE:
Worked in the round on circular needle. Switch to double pointed needles when needed.
BERET:
Cast on 100-104 stitches on a circular needle size 3 mm with Sky. Knit 1 round, then work rib = knit 1/purl 1 for 3 cm. Knit 1 round while increasing 20-22 stitches evenly - read INCREASE TIP = 120-126 stitches. Switch to circular needle size 4.5 mm. Then work ENGLISH RIB - read explanation above. REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION! When hat measures 16-18 cm - adjust to finish after 2nd round in English rib, switch to circular needle size 3 mm. Work next round as follows: * Knit yarn over and slipped stitch together, purl 1 *, work from *-* the entire round. Yarn overs have now been worked together with stitches and there are 120-126 stitches on round. Continue with rib = knit 1/purl 1 for 3 cm. Now decrease in the different sizes as follows:
SIZE S-M:
ROUND 1: * Knit 1, purl 1, knit the next 3 stitches together (= 2 stitches decreased), purl 1 *, work from *-* the entire round (= 40 stitches decreased) = 80 stitches.
ROUNDS 2- 4: Knit over knit and purl over purl.
ROUND 5: * Knit 1, purl 1, knit the next 3 stitches together (= 2 stitches decreased), purl 1, knit 1, purl 1 *, work from *-* the entire round (= 20 stitches decreased) = 60 stitches.
ROUNDS 6- 8: Knit over knit and purl over purl.
ROUND 9: * Knit 1, purl 1, knit the next 3 stitches together (= 2 stitches decreased), purl 1 *, work from *-* the entire round (= 20 stitches decreased) = 40 stitches.
SIZE M/L:
ROUND 1: * Knit 1, purl 1, knit the next 3 stitches together (= 2 stitches decreased), purl 1 *, work from *-* the entire round (= 42 stitches decreased) = 84 stitches.
ROUNDS 2- 4: Knit over knit and purl over purl.
ROUND 5: * Knit 1, purl 1, knit the next 3 stitches together (= 2 stitches decreased), purl 1 *, work from *-* the entire round (= 28 stitches decreased) = 56 stitches.
ROUNDS 6- 8: Knit over knit and purl over purl.
ROUND 9: * Knit 1, purl 1, knit the next 3 stitches together (= 2 stitches decreased), purl 1, knit 1, purl 1 *, work from *-* the entire round (= 14 stitches decreased) = 42 stitches.
BOTH SIZES:
ROUND 10: Knit over knit and purl over purl.
ROUND 11: Knit stitches together 2 by 2 the entire round= 20-21 stitches.
