SIZE:
The piece measures approx.: Width = 12 cm. Length = 13 cm.

MATERIALS:
DROPS PARIS from Garnstudio (belongs to yarn group C)
50 g colour 20, blush
50 g colour 17, off white

KNITTING TENSION:
17 stitches in width and 30 rows in height with lace pattern = 10 x 10 cm.

NEEDLES:
DROPS NEEDLES SIZE 4.5 MM.
Needle size is only a guide. If you get too many stitches on 10 cm, change to a larger needle size. If you get too few stitches on 10 cm, change to a smaller needle size.

EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN:

RIDGE/GARTER STITCH:
Knit all rows.
1 ridge in height = Knit 2 rows.

TWISTED CORD:
Cut 3 strands each 2 metres in length: 1 strand in colour blush and 2 strands in off white. Tie a small knot in each end. Twist the strands together until they begin to resist, fold the cord double and it will continue to twist. Untie the small knots and tie a new knot at each end.

See diagram A.1. 1 square = 1 stitch.

START THE PIECE HERE:

SOAP BAG - SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE:
The entire soap bag is worked back and forth on the needle, bottom up, then the bottom and side are sewn together. A twisted cord is threaded through the holes at the top of the bag to finish.

SOAP BAG:
Cast on 41 stitches with colour blush and needle size 4.5 mm. Knit 1 row then work the next row as follows: Knit 40 stitches of A.1 - see diagram and read description of PATTERN above. Finish with knit 1. Continue like this until the piece measures 13 cm - REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION. Cast off - make sure the last row is knitted without yarn overs.

ASSEMBLY:
Sew the bottom of the bag together and then the side.
Make a TWISTED CORD – see description above. Thread the cord through the holes at the top of the bag and tie together, so the top can be tightened to close.
