EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN:
-------------------------------------------------------
RIDGE/GARTER STITCH (worked back and forth):
1 ridge in height = Knit 2 rows.
INCREASE TIP-1 (for raglan):
Work until there is 1 stitch left before marker, 1 yarn over, knit 2 (marker sits in middle of these 2 stitches), 1 yarn over (= 2 stitches increased). Increase like this at all 4 markers (a total of 8 stitches increased). On the next row knit the yarn overs twisted to avoid holes.
INCREASE TIP-2 (evenly spaced):
To work out how to increase evenly, count the total number of stitches to be increased over (e.g. 17 stitches) and divide by the number of increases to be made (e.g. 9) = 1.9.
In this example, increase by making 1 yarn over after approx. each 2nd stitch. On the next round knit the yarn overs to make holes.
BUTTONHOLE:
Work the buttonhole from the right side as follows: Work until there are 3 stitches left on the row, knit 2 together, 1 yarn over, knit 1.
-------------------------------------------------------
START THE PIECE HERE:
-------------------------------------------------------
DRESS:
DRESS – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE:
The piece is worked top down. The yoke is worked first, back and forth in garter stitch. Then stitches are increased evenly for the skirt and continue working in the round with circular needle.
DRESS:
Cast on 52 stitches with circular needle size 3 mm and pink dream. The piece is first worked in GARTER STITCH – read description above and is worked from mid-back. On the first row insert 4 markers for raglan as follows: Work 8 stitches (= half the back piece), insert 1 marker, work 10 stitches (= sleeve), insert 1 marker, work 16 stitches (= front piece), insert 1 marker, work 10 stitches (= sleeve), insert 1 marker and finish with 8 stitches (= half the back piece). On the next row increase 2 stitches evenly spaced over each sleeve = 56 stitches (= 12 stitches on each sleeve).
On the next row (= from the right side) work the BUTTONHOLE – read description above at the same time as you increase to raglan as follows:
Increase 1 stitch on each side of each marker – read INCREASE TIP-1. Increase on each row from the right side a total of 9 times = 128 stitches. REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION! The piece measures approx. 4 cm from the cast-on edge; continue working if necessary until the piece measures 4 cm.
Now divide the piece into body and sleeves and increase stitches evenly for the skirt as follows:
Knit 17 stitches where you increase 9 stitches evenly spaced – read INCREASE TIP-2 (= half the back piece = 26 stitches), cast off the next 30 stitches for the sleeve, knit 34 stitches where you increase 19 stitches evenly spaced (= front piece = 53 stitches), cast off the next 30 stitches for sleeve, knit 17 stitches where you increase 10 stitches evenly spaced (= half the back piece = 27 stitches) = 106 stitches. Insert a marker; the piece is now measured from here.
Continue in the round with stocking stitch. Knit 1 round and cast on 4 stitches under each sleeve = 114 stitches. Continue in the round with stocking stitch until the piece measures 13 cm from the marker. Work 1 ridge over all stitches and loosely cast off.
ASSEMBLY:
Fasten the button on right half of back piece, in back of neck.
SHORTS:
SHORTS – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE:
The shorts are worked in the round with double pointed needles, top down and the sewn together to finish.
SHORTS:
Cast on 80 stitches with double pointed needles size 2.5 mm and red. Work rib in the round with knit 2/ purl 2. REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION! When the piece measures approx. 11 cm cast off with knit over knit and purl over purl. Lay the piece flat so that there are 40 stitches on each side – make sure there are 2 knitted stitches in the middle. Then sew the middle 10 stitches in front to the middle 10 stitches at the back for the crutch. Cut and fasten strand.
TUBE SOCKS:
TUBE SOCKS - SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE
The socks are worked in the round with double pointed needles, top down. Rib is worked with displacements every 3rd round.
TUBE SOCKS:
Cast on 36 stitches with double pointed needles size 2.5 mm and red. Work rib in the round with knit 2/ purl 2 for 1 cm. On the next round displace the rib 1 stitch to the left as follows: Over knit 2 and purl 2, work purl 1, knit 2, purl 1; continue like this to end of round. * Work 2 rounds with knit over knit and purl over purl. On the next round displace the rib again, by 1 stitch to the left *. Repeat from *-* until the piece measures 9 cm. On the next round work all stitches together 2 and 2 = 18 stitches. Cut the strand and pull it through the remaining 18 stitches 2 times, pull tight and fasten the strand well. Work 1 more sock in the same way.
