COVER FOR YOGA MAT - SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE:
The piece is worked in the round, bottom up.
COVER WITH STAR PATTERN:
Work 5 chain stitches with hook size 5 mm and amethyst and form them into a ring with 1 slip stitch in the first chain stitch worked. Read CROCHET INFORMATION!
ROUND 1: Work 6 double crochets around the chain-stitch ring.
ROUND 2: Work 2 double crochets in each double crochet = 12 double crochets.
ROUND 3: Work * 1 double crochet in next stitch, 2 double crochets in next stitch *, work from *-* to end of round = 18 double crochets.
ROUND 4: Work * 1 double crochet in each of the next 2 double crochets, 2 double crochets in next stitch *, work from *-* to end of round = 24 double crochets
ROUND 5: Work * 1 double crochet in each of the next 3 double crochets, 2 double crochets in next stitch *, work from *-* to end of round = 30 double crochets. REMEMBER THE CROCHET TENSION!
Continue in the round like this, i.e. work 1 more double crochet between each increase until you have worked a total of 12-14-16 rounds = 72-84-96 double crochets. Insert a marker thread here. THE PIECE IS NOW MEASURED FROM HERE! Now work 1 round to thread the twisted cord through as follows: * 1 double treble crochet in each of the first 4 stitches, 2 chain stitches, skip 2 double crochets *, work from *-* to end of round and finish with 1 slip stitch in 4th chain stitch at beginning of round, then work slip stitches as far as the last double treble crochet before the next chain-space. There are now 12-14-16 chain-spaces on round. Change to lavender. Now work the star pattern in the round as follows: Work A.1 (shows how round starts and ends), A.2 a total of 6-7-8 times on the round. Continue like this in the round until the piece measures 66 cm or to desired length. Finish with 1 slip stitch in first chain stitch at beginning of round. Cut and fasten strand.
TWISTED CORD:
Cut 6 strands of amethyst each 7 metres long. Twist them together until they begin to resist, fold cord double and it will continue to twist. Tie a knot in each end. The cord measures approx. 220 cm. Thread the cord up and down through the last round of amethyst (round worked in double treble crochets), then thread it up and down through a row of chain-spaces, approx. 6 cm down the cover, measured from the last round worked. Tie the ends of the cord together.
