COASTER:
The piece is worked in the round, starting from the middle of the heart. The piece starts at the arrow that show the direction of the cast on. It starts with a chain row = thigh, black line in the middle of the diagram. In the end of this chain row there is a triangle, round 1 starts here (= oval symbol). ROUND 1, that also is shown in the diagram should be worked as explained below.
CAST ON: Work 19 chain stitches with hook size 3.5 mm and Paris.
ROUND 1: Work 3 chain stitches (= these 3 chain stitches replaces the first treble crochet), turn and work 6 treble crochets in the 4th chain stitch from the hook, * 2 chain stitches, skip 2 chain stitches, 1 treble crochet in the next chain stitch *, work from *-* a total of 2 times, work 2 chain stitches, skip 2 chain stitches, now continue to work around the point of the heart as follows: Work 1 treble crochet + 5 chain stitches + 1 treble crochet, then work 2 chain stitches, skip 2 chain stitches, * 1 treble crochet in next chain stitch, 2 chain stitches, skip 2 chain stitches *, work from *-* a total of 2 times, work 7 treble crochets in the next chain stitch, * 2 chain stitches, skip 2 chain stitches, 1 treble crochet in the next chain stitch *, work from *-* a total of 2 times, skip 5 chain stitches, * 1 treble crochet in the next chain stitch, 2 chain stitches, skip 2 chain stitches *, work from *-* a total of 2 times, finish with 1 slip stitch in the 3rd chain stitch at the beginning of the round.
Continue in the round according to A.1 until the diagram has been completed – REMEMBER THE CROCHET TENSION! Cut and fasten the strand.
To make the coaster stiff – it can be dipped in sugar water or colourless fizzy drink and left flat to dry.
