INFORMATION FOR THE PATTERN:

CROCHET INFO:
The first double crochets at the beginning of each round are replaced by 1 chain stitch, the round ends with 1 slip stitch in this chain stitch.
This is not described for each round in the text, but each round starts and ends in this way.

COLOUR PATTERN:
See diagrams A.1 and A.2. The diagrams show the colours in the pattern. 1 square = 1 double crochet.

COLOUR CHANGE:
When changing colour, work as follows: Work the last double crochet with the first colour, but wait with the last pull through, change to next colour and work the last pull through with the new colour, then work the next double crochet.
When working with 2 colours, lay the strand of the colour you are not working with over the stitches from the previous round and work around the strand so that it is hidden and also taken forward.

DOUBLE STRAND TIP:
Use the strand from both the inside and outside of the ball. When changing balls, it is a good idea not to change both strands at the same time - this avoids the strand change being too thick.
----------------------------------------------------------

BASKET:
The basket is worked in the round from middle of bottom and upwards. The whole basket is worked with 2 strands of each colour.

BOTTOM:
Work 4 chain stitches with hook size 5 mm and 2 strands dark red and form them to a ring with 1 slip stitch in first chain stitch. Read CROCHET INFO, COLOUR CHANGE and DOUBLE STRAND TIP!
Work A.1 in the round as follows (= 6 repeats of A.1 on the round).
ROUND 1: Work 6 double crochets around the ring (this is the first row in A.1).
ROUND 2: Work 2 double crochets in each double crochet = 12 double crochets.
ROUND 3: Work * 1 double crochet in the first double crochet, 2 double crochets in next double crochet *, work from *-* to end of round = 18 double crochets. REMEMBER THE CROCHET TENSION!
ROUND 4: Work * 1 double crochet in each of the 2 first/next double crochets, 2 double crochets in next double crochet *, work from *-* to end of round = 24 double crochets.
Continue to work double crochets in the round according to A.1 in this way by increasing 6 double crochets every round, i.e. each round work 1 more double crochet between each increase. When A.1 has been completed, there are 84 stitches on the round. Now work the sides of the basket as described below (do not cut strand).

SIDE:
Continue working in the round, but now work A.2 in the round without increasing (= 14 repeats of 6 stitches). When A.2 is finished, cut and fasten the strands.

EDGE WITH LOBSTER STITCH:
Work an edge around top of basket with lobster stitch and 2 strands dark red (lobster stitch = work double crochets from left to right). Cut and fasten the strand.
