INFORMATION FOR THE PATTERN:
RIDGE/GARTER STITCH (worked back and forth):
1 ridge = Knit 2 rows.
PATTERN:
See diagrams A.1 to A.6. The diagrams show all the rows in the pattern seen from the right side.
----------------------------------------------------------
SHAWL:
The shawl is worked back and forth on circular needle. The shawl is worked in stocking stitch with 2 edge stitches in each side in GARTER STITCH – see description above, and lace pattern in the middle.
Cast on 5 stitches with circular needle size 5 mm and one strand Alpaca and one strand Kid-Silk (= 2 strands) and work as follows:
ROW 1 (= right side): Knit.
ROW 2 (= wrong side): Knit 2, 1 yarn over, purl 1, 1 yarn over, knit 2 = 7 stitches.
ROW 3 (= right side): Knit 2, 1 yarn over, knit 1, 1 yarn over, knit 1, 1 yarn over, knit 1, 1 yarn over, knit 2 = 11 stitches.
ROW 4 (= wrong side): Knit 2, 1 yarn over, knit 1, 1 yarn over, purl 5, 1 yarn over, knit 1, 1 yarn over, knit 2 = 15 stitches.
On the next row work as follows: A.1 (= 4 stitches), A.2 (= 7 stitches), A.3 (= 4 stitches). When A.1, A.2 and A.3 have been completed 1 time in height there are 63 stitches on the needle.
The next row is worked as follows – from the right side: A.4 (= 2 stitches), A.5 until there are 3 stitches left, A.6 (= 3 stitches). When A.4, A.5 and A.6 have been completed one time in height, there are 71 stitches on the row.
Continue working as follows:
A.1, 28 stitches stocking stitch, A.2, 28 stitches stocking stitch, A.3.
When A.1, A.2 and A.3 have been completed 1 time in height, there are 119 stitches on the row. Work A.4, A.5 and A.6 as before = 127 stitches on the row.
Continue with A.1, A.2 and A.3 and A.4, A.5 and A.6 upwards, each time A.1 to A.6 are completed one time in height, you will work 28 more stitches between A.1 and A.2 and A.2 and A.3.
Continue until you have worked a total of 6 repeats of A.1 to A.6 in height. There are now 351 stitches on the row.
Continue working with only 1 strand Kid- Silk, but you now work 1 stitch in each loop from the stitches on the needle (work 1 stitch in the loop with Kid-Silk and 1 stitch in the loop with Alpaca) so that the number of stitches doubles = 702 stitches. Knit 1 row from the right side and 1 row from the wrong side, then cast off with knit from the right side.
