Measurements: 22 cm in diameter.
Materials:
DROPS PARIS from Garnstudio
150 g colour no 12, red
50 g colour no 61, light peach
50 g colour no 16, white
50 g colour no 15, black

DROPS CROCHET HOOK SIZE 3 mm – or size needed to get 20 tr x 11 rows = 10 x 10 cm.
ACCESSORIES: Some cotton wool for filling

CROCHET INFO:
ROUNDS WITH TR: Beg every tr round with 3 ch, finish with 1 sl st in 3rd ch from beg of round (these ch are not counted in no of tr).
ROUNDS WITH DC: Beg every round with dc with 1 ch and finish with 1 sl st in ch from beg of round.

CROCHET DC TOG:
Insert hook in first dc and pull yarn through, insert hook in next dc and pull yarn through, make a YO and pull yarn through all 3 loops on hook.

COLOUR CHANGE:
To get a nice transition between the colour changes, work last sl st on round with the new colour as follows: Insert hook in last ch from beg of round, get the new yarn, make a YO with the new colour and pull it through st on hook.

REVERSE CROCHET:
Work as dc but backwards. I.e. crochet around from left to right

PLACEMAT:
Worked in the round. Work 4 ch on hook size 3 mm with red and form a ring with 1 sl st in first ch.
ROUND 1: READ CROCHET INFO! Work 12 tr in ch-ring.
ROUND 2: Work 2 tr in every tr = 24 tr.
ROUND 3: * 2 tr in first tr, 1 tr in next tr *, repeat from *-* the entire round = 36 tr. REMEMBER THE CROCHET TENSION!
ROUND 4: * 2 tr in first tr, 1 tr in each of the next 2 tr *, repeat from *-* the entire round = 48 tr.
ROUND 5: * 2 tr in first tr, 1 tr in each of the next 3 tr *, repeat from *-* the entire round = 60 tr.
ROUND 6: * 2 tr in first tr, 1 tr in each of the next 4 tr *, repeat from *-* the entire round = 72 tr.
ROUND 7: * 2 tr in first tr, 1 tr in each of the next 5 tr *, repeat from *-* the entire round = 84 tr.
ROUND 8: * 2 tr in first tr, 1 tr in each of the next 6 tr *, repeat from *-* the entire round = 96 tr.
ROUND 9: * 2 tr in first tr, 1 tr in each of the next 7 tr *, repeat from *-* the entire round = 108 tr.
ROUND 10: * 2 tr in first tr, 1 tr in each of the next 8 tr *, repeat from *-* the entire round = 120 tr.
ROUND 11: * 2 tr in first tr, 1 tr in each of the next 9 tr *, repeat from *-* the entire round = 132 tr.
ROUND 12: * 2 tr in first tr, 1 tr in each of the next 10 tr *, repeat from *-* the entire round AT THE SAME TIME insert 4 markers in piece, 36 tr apart = 144 tr. Markers indicate legs and arms worked later. NOTE: If you want a larger table coaster, continue with inc the same way (i.e. there is 1 tr more between every inc per round).
ROUND 13: * 2 REVERSE CROCHET - see explanation above, in first tr, 1 reverse crochet in each of the next 11 tr *, repeat from *-* the entire round = 156 reverse crochet. Fasten off.

HEAD + HAT:
Worked in the round. Crochet 5 ch on hook size 3 mm with light peach and form a ring with 1 sl st in first ch.
ROUND 1: Work 8 dc in ch-ring – see CROCHET INFO!
ROUND 2: Work 2 dc in every dc = 16 dc.
ROUND 3: * 2 dc in first dc, 1 dc in next dc *, repeat from *-* = 24 dc.
ROUND 4: * 2 dc in first dc, 1 dc in each of the next 2 dc *, repeat from *-* = 32 dc.
ROUND 5: * 2 dc in first dc, 1 dc in each of the next 3 dc *, repeat from *-* = 40 dc. Now work beg of beard with white (NOTE: Do not cut light peach strand, this is used later) as follows: * Work 1 dc in front loop of next st, 1 ch, skip 1 dc *, repeat from *-* 9 more times (i.e. over the next 20 dc), finish with 1 dc in next dc. Fasten off. Then continue with light peach. NOTE: Now work 1st round in back loop of last round with light peach over the first 20 sts.
Work 6 rounds with 1 dc in every dc. Switch to white - READ COLOUR CHANGE! To get a thick edge at the bottom of hat work 1 round as follows (replace first tr with 3 ch): * 1 tr in first dc, but wait with last pull through, work 1 tr more in same dc, but on last pull through, pull yarn through all 3 loops on hook *, repeat from *-* the entire round and finish round with 1 sl st in first st, switch colour to red. Now measure piece from here.
Then work 1 dc in every st until piece measures 3 cm, fill head with cotton wool before continuing. Work next round as follows: * 7 dc, skip 1 dc *, repeat from *-* = 35 dc. Work 1 round with 1 dc in every dc. Work next round as follows: * 6 dc, skip 1 dc *, repeat from *-* = 30 dc. Work 1 round with 1 dc in every dc. Continue like this (dec 5 sts every other round) until 5 sts remain. Fasten off and tighten tog at the top.

BEARD:
Work back and forth over the sts made for beard on hook size 3 mm with white. Work * 1 dc in first dc, 1 dc in next ch *, repeat from *-* until 1 dc remain, finish with 1 dc in last dc = 21 dc. Work 1 ch, skip 1 dc, 1 dc in every dc. Repeat this row until beard measures approx. 2½ cm. Fasten off. Then work a row around the beard on hook size 3 mm with white. Work in every row/st around the entire beard as follows: 1 reverse crochet, 2 ch.

ARM:
Worked in the round. Work 3 ch on hook size 3 mm with red and form a ring with 1 sl st in first ch.
ROUND 1: Work 6 dc in ch-ring – REMEMBER CROCHET INFO!
ROUND 2: Work 2 dc in every dc the entire round = 12 dc.
ROUND 3: Work * 1 dc in next dc, 2 dc in next dc *, repeat from *-* the entire round = 18 dc.
ROUND 4: Work 1 dc in every dc the entire round.
ROUND 5: Work * 1 dc in each of the next 2 dc, then 2 dc in next dc *, repeat from *-* the entire round = 24 dc.
ROUND 6: Work 1 dc in every dc the entire round.
ROUND 7: READ CROCHET DC TOG! Work * 1 dc in each of the next 2 dc, work 2 dc tog *, repeat from *-* the entire round, switch to light peach - REMEMBER COLOUR CHANGE = 18 dc.
ROUND 8: Work 1 dc in every dc the entire round. Fill the ball with some cotton wool.
ROUND 9: Work * 1 dc in next dc, work 2 dc tog *, repeat from *-* the entire round = 12 dc.
ROUND 10: Work dc tog 2 by 2 the entire round = 6 dc.
Cut the yarn, sew tog at the top and fasten tightly.
Work another arm.

LEG:
Worked in the round. Work 3 ch on hook size 3 mm with black and form a ring with 1 sl st in first ch.
ROUND 1: Work 6 dc in ch-ring – REMEMBER CROCHET INFO!
ROUND 2: Work 2 dc in every dc the entire round = 12 dc.
ROUND 3: Work * 1 dc in next dc, 2 dc in next dc *, repeat from *-* the entire round = 18 dc.
ROUND 4: Work 1 dc in every dc the entire round.
ROUND 5: Work * 1 dc in each of the next 2 dc, then 2 dc in next dc *, repeat from *-* the entire round = 24 dc.
ROUND 6: Work 1 dc in every dc the entire round.
ROUND 7: Work * 1 dc in each of the next 2 dc, work 2 dc tog *, repeat from *-* the entire round = 18 dc.
ROUND 8: Work 1 dc in every dc the entire round. Fill the ball with some cotton wool.
ROUND 9: Work * 1 dc in next dc, work 2 dc tog *, repeat from *-* the entire round = 12 dc.
ROUND 10: Work dc tog 2 by 2 the entire round = 6 dc.
Cut the yarn, sew tog at the top and fasten tightly.
Work another leg.

ASSEMBLY:
Make a pompom with white with an approx. diameter of 4 cm. Fasten at the mat in the middle of arms. Make two French knots in black for every and fasten on head. Fasten off.
