Materials:
DROPS ALASKA from Garnstudio
100 g for all sizes in colour no 45, light olive
50 g for all sizes in colour no 10, red
And use some left-over colour 02 off white and 06 black for decoration.

DROPS DOUBLE POINTED NEEDLES and CIRCULAR NEEDLE (40 cm) SIZE 5 mm - or size needed to get 17 sts x 22 rows in stocking st = 10 x 10 cm.
DROPS CIRCULAR NEEDLE (40 cm) and DOUBLE POINTED NEEDLES SIZE 4.5 mm - for garter st and rib.

GARTER ST (in the round on circular needle):
* K 1 round and P 1 round *, repeat from *-*. 1 ridge = 2 rounds.

GARTER ST (back and forth on needle):
K all rows. 1 ridge = 2 rows K.

HAT:
Worked in the round on double pointed needles, top down. Cast on 6-6-8 sts evenly on 3 double pointed needle size 5 mm with light olive, leave yarn end approx. 10 cm for assembly. Work 2 sts in every st the entire round = 12-12-16 sts. Distribute sts on 4 double pointed needles. K 1 round, insert 6-6-8 markers in piece, 2 sts between every marker. Then work in stocking st AT THE SAME TIME on 1st round inc by working 2 sts in first st after every marker (= 6-6-8 sts inc). Repeat inc every 2-2-3 rounds 9-10-8 more times = 72-78-88 sts (= 12-13-11 sts between every marker). Switch to circular needle size 5 mm and work in stocking st until piece measures 10.5-11-11.5 cm from last inc. Switch to circular needle size 4.5 mm and work 2 ridges in GARTER ST - see explanation above. On next round cast off the first 21-23-24 sts (= mid front of hat). Then work in garter st back and forth over the remaining 51-55-64 sts. On next row (= WS), K the first 2 sts tog and K the last 2 sts tog = 49-53-62 sts. Work 1 ridge in garter st. Work next row as follows: Work 16-17-21 sts, slip these on a stitch holder for ear flap, cast off the next 17-19-20 sts (= mid back) and work the remaining 16-17-21 sts (= ear flap). Insert 1 marker. Work back and forth in garter st until ear flap measures approx. 2-2-21/2 cm from marker. Dec 1 st inside 1 edge st in each side by K 2 tog, repeat every 4th row 2-2-3 more times and then every other row 3-3-4 times in total = 4-5-5 sts remain, ear flap measures approx. 7-7-8 cm. Cast off and fasten the yarn. Work the other ear flap the same way. Use a needle and baste yarn at the top of hat up and down through opening, tighten tog and fasten.

SPIKES:
Cast on 2 sts with 2 strands red on double pointed needles size 5 mm. Work in garter st back and forth on needle.
ROW 1: K 1, 1 YO and K 1. Turn piece.
ROW 2: K all sts, K YO twisted to avoid hole. Turn piece.
ROW 3: K 1, 1 YO and K rest of row. Turn piece.
Then repeat 2nd-3rd row until there are 9 sts on needle. Cast off 7 sts = 2 sts remain on needle. K 1 row. = 1 spike.
Then beg on 1st row again and 4 more spikes as the first. After 5th spike cast off all sts. Let yarn end be approx. 30 cm long and use it to fasten spikes in the middle of hat. Fasten so that it stands up on the middle of head. The first spike should be approx. 8-9 cm from edge at the front.

EYES:
Work eye back and forth on 2 double pointed needles. Cast on 6 sts on double pointed needles size 4.5 mm with black.
ROW 1: Work 2 sts in every st the rest of row (i.e. work in front and back loop of st) = 12 sts on needle. Turn piece and switch to off white.
ROW 2: K all sts. Turn piece.
ROW 3: * K 2 in first st, K 1 *, repeat from *-* the entire row = 18 sts. Turn piece.
ROW 4: K all sts. Turn piece.
ROW 5: * K 2 in first st, K 2 *, repeat from *-* the entire row = 24 sts. Turn piece.
ROW 6: K all sts. Turn piece and cast off as follows: * Cast off 3 sts, make 1 YO and cast off YO *, repeat from *-* until all sts have been cast off. Sew side seam of eye tog with small stitches. Work another eye the same way. Fasten the eyes mid front on hat.

MOUTH:
Cast on 2 sts on double pointed needles size 4.5 mm with red. * K and cast on 2 new sts at the end of row. Turn piece. Cast off the 2 new sts and work rest of row. Turn piece = 1 small spike *, repeat from *-* until 6 spikes have been worked in total and cast off all sts. Fasten the small strip with 6 spikes below eyes mid front on hat.
