Materials: DROPS SNOW from Garnstudio
100 g colour no 56, Christmas red or use 01, off white.

DROPS CROCHET HOOK SIZE 9 mm – or size needed to get 8 tr = 10 cm in breadth.

POT BASE:
Crochet 4 ch on hook size 9 mm with Snow and form a ring with 1 sl st in first ch.
ROUND 1: 4 ch (= 1st dtr), work 11 dtr in ch-ring, finish with 1 sl st in 4th ch from beg of round = 12 dtr.
ROUND 2: 4 ch, * 3 ch, work 1 dtr in next dtr, * repeat from *-* finish with 3 ch and 1 sl st in 4th ch from beg of round = 12 loops. Turn piece.
ROUND 3: 4 ch, in every loop work: 4 dtr, 1 ch. Finish with 1 sl st in 4th ch from beg of round. Turn piece.
ROUND 4: 3 ch, * 5 ch, work 1 tr around next ch *, repeat from *-* finish with 5 ch and 1 sl st in 3rd ch from beg of round = 12 loops. Turn piece.
ROUND 5: 3 ch, in every loop work: 6 tr, 1 ch.
Finish with 1 sl st in in 3rd ch from beg of round.
Cut and fasten the thread.

FELTING:
The piece can be felted either in the washing machine or the tumble dryer – read description below.
Remember: Subsequent washes are as for a normal wool garment.

IN WASHING MACHINE:
Washing machines will vary when felting. If the piece is not felted enough, it can be felted again. If it is felted too much, it can be stretched to the correct size while still wet.
DO THE FOLLOWING:
Lay the piece in the washing machine, using a programme of approx. 40 minutes (not a wool programme).
Wash at 40 degrees without pre-wash, detergent is optional. After washing, shape the piece while it is still wet.

IN TUMBLE DRYER:
Felting in a tumble dryer gives good control over the degree of felting. The tumble dryer can be opened during drying to check the size of the piece. If it is not felted enough it can be thoroughly wetted and felted again. If it is felted too much it can be stretched to the correct size while still wet.
DO THE FOLLOWING:
Lay the piece in water so it becomes completely wet, then place it in the tumble dryer and begin the drying process. Dry to the desired size, checking regularly.
