Knitted muffins / cupcakes in DROPS BabyMerino or BabyAlpaca Silk.

Materials: DROPS BABY MERINO from Garnstudio
50 g colour no 23, light beige
50 g colour no 17, beige
50 g colour no 05, light pink
50 g colour no 27, old pink
50 g colour no 02, off white
50 g colour no 16, red

Or use: DROPS BABYALPACA SILK from Garnstudio
50 g colour no 1760, light grey purple
50 g colour no 5670, brown
50 g colour no 3125, light pink
50 g colour no 3250, light old pink
50 g colour no 0100, off white
50 g colour no 3609, red

Some cotton wool for filling.

DROPS STRAIGHT NEEDLES and DOUBLE POINTED NEEDLES SIZE 3 mm - or size needed to get 24 sts x 32 rows in stocking st = 10 x 10 cm.

KNITTING TIP:
K YOs twisted (i.e. work in back loop of st instead of front loop) to avoid holes.

GARTER ST (in the round on double pointed needles):
1 ridge = 2 rounds * K 1 round and P 1 round *, repeat from *-*.

GARTER ST (back and forth on needle):
K all rows. 1 ridge = 2 rows K.

PATTERN: See diagram M.1.

STRIPES:
* 2 rounds light pink, 2 rounds old pink, 2 rounds off white *, repeat from *-*.

CUPCAKE WITH CHERRY:
Worked in the round on double pointed needles.
Cast on 9 sts on double pointed needles size 3 mm with beige.
Work as follows: ROUND 1: K all sts.
ROUND 2: * 1 YO, K 1 *, repeat from *-* = 18 sts.
ROUND 3 to 5: K all sts - see KNITTING TIP!
ROUND 6: * 1 YO, K 1 *, repeat from *-* = 36 sts.
ROUND 7 to 9: K all sts.
ROUND 10: * 1 YO, K 2 *, repeat from *-* = 54 sts.
ROUND 11 to 15: K all sts.
ROUND 16: * K 9, 1 YO *, repeat from *-* = 60 sts.
ROUND 17 to 29: K all sts.
ROUND 30 to 33: Work diagram M.1.
Round 34 and 35: Continue with old pink. K all sts. Tighten the cupcake tog along cast on edge and fasten the thread on the inside.
ROUND 36: * K 8, K 2 tog *, repeat from *-* = 54 sts.
ROUND 37 to 40: K all sts.
ROUND 41: * K 1, K 2 tog *, repeat from *-* = 36 sts.
ROUND 42 to 44: K all sts.
ROUND 45: K all sts tog 2 by 2 = 18 sts.
ROUND 46 to 48: K all sts.
ROUND 49: K all sts tog 2 by 2 = 9 sts.
ROUND 50: K all sts.
ROUND 51: K all sts tog 2 by 2 = 5 sts.
Fill the cupcake with some cotton wool.

ROUND 52: Switch to red. K all sts.
ROUND 53: * 1 YO, K 1 *, repeat from *-* = 10 sts.
Round 54 and 55: K all sts.
ROUND 56: K all sts tog 2 by 2 = 5 sts.
Fill the cherry with some cotton wool, pull the thread through the remaining sts and tighten, do not cut thread. Stick thread down though the cherry and wrap the yarn around the base of the cherry a few times. Fasten the thread.

Embroider some stitches with 2 threads off white at the top of cupcake.

CUPCAKE WITH STRIPES AND CREAM ON TOP:
Worked in the round on double pointed needles.
Cast on 9 sts on double pointed needles size 3 mm with light beige.
Work as follows: ROUND 1: K all sts.
ROUND 2: * 1 YO, K 1 *, repeat from *-* = 18 sts.
ROUND 3 to 5: K all sts - see KNITTING TIP!
ROUND 6: * 1 YO, K 1 *, repeat from *-* = 36 sts.
ROUND 7 to 9: K all sts.
ROUND 10: * 1 YO, K 2 *, repeat from *-* = 54 sts.
ROUND 11 to 15: K all sts.
ROUND 16: * K 9, 1 YO *, repeat from *-* = 60 sts.
ROUND 17 to 29: K all sts.
ROUND 30 to 35: Continue in garter st and with stripes until finished measurements - see explanation above. Tighten the cupcake tog along cast on edge and fasten the thread on the inside.
ROUND 36: * K 8, K 2 tog *, repeat from *-* = 54 sts.
ROUND 37 to 40: K all sts.
ROUND 41: * K 1, K 2 tog *, repeat from *-* = 36 sts.
ROUND 42 to 44: K all sts.
ROUND 45: K all sts tog 2 by 2 = 18 sts.
ROUND 46 to 48: K all sts.
ROUND 49: K all sts tog 2 by 2 = 9 sts.
ROUND 50: K all sts.
ROUND 51: K all sts tog 2 by 2 = 5 sts.
Fill the cupcake with some cotton wool, tighten tog and fasten the threads.

CREAM ON TOP:
Worked back and forth on needle. Cast on 72 sts on needle size 3 mm with off white. K 2 rows, on next round, K all sts tog 3 by 3 = 24 sts. K 1 row. K all sts tog 3 by 3 = 8 sts. K 1 row. Cast off the remaining sts. Form the piece into a spiral and sew it to the top of the cupcake.

CUPCAKE FORM:
Worked back and forth on needle. Cast on 65 sts on needle size 3 mm with off white. K 3 rows, then work as follows from RS: 1 edge st, * K 1, 1 st in garter st – see explanation above, P 1 *, repeat from *-* and finish with 1 edge st. Continue like this until piece measures 5 cm. Now K all sts tog 2 by 2 = 35 sts. K 1 row. K all sts tog 2 by 2 = 17 sts. K 1 row. K all sts tog 2 by 2 = 8 sts. Cut the thread and pull it through the remaining sts. Sew tog inside 1 edge st.
