200-250-250-300-300-350 g colour no 09, navy blue
100-150-150-150-200-200 g colour no 18, off white

DROPS CROCHET HOOK SIZE 3 mm – or size needed to get 22 sts x 20 rows with STRIPE PATTERN = 10 x 10 cm.
DROPS MOTHER-OF-PEARL BUTTONS NO 521: 6 pieces

STRIPE PATTERN:
* Work 2 dc rows with off white, then 1 tr row and 1 dc row with navy blue *, repeat from *-*, do not cut the threads after every stripe but let them follow upwards.

CROCHET TIP:
Beg every dc row with 1 ch and beg every tr row with 3 ch – these do not replace first dc/tr on row.

SKIRT:
Worked back and forth from the left side. READ CROCHET TIP!
Work 269-292-315-339-374-409 ch on hook size 3 mm with navy blue. Turn and work 1 dc in 2nd ch from hook, then work 1 dc in each of the next 1-3-5-1-1-1 ch, * skip 1 ch, work 1 dc in each of the next 6 ch *, repeat from *-* the rest of row = 230-250-270-290-320-350 dc. Turn and work 1 row with 1 tr in every dc. Turn and work 1 row with dc. Continue with STRIPE PATTERN - see explanation above. REMEMBER THE CROCHET TENSION!
When piece measures 12-14-15-17-17-19 cm, insert 10 markers in piece as follows: First marker after 12-13-14-15-16-18 sts, then insert the next 9 markers 23-25-27-29-32-35 sts apart, then 11-12-13-14-16-17 sts remain after last marker. On next row skip 1 st before every marker, i.e. dec 10 sts. Repeat dec every 5 cm 2-2-2-2-3-3 more times, then every 3 cm 2-2-3-3-2-2 times and finally every 2 cm a total of 4-4-3-3-3-3 times - NOTE: Dec alternately before and after the markers. After all dec there are 140-160-180-200-230-260 sts on row and piece measures approx. 36-38-40-42-44-46 cm. Continue stripe pattern until piece measures approx. 46-48-50-52-54-56 cm, finish after a navy blue stripe, cut the threads.

ASSEMBLY:
Sew skirt tog edge to edge in the left side, leave an opening of approx. 18 cm at the top.

BUTTON HOLE LOOPS: Along the opening towards front piece work button hole loops with navy blue as follows (beg at the bottom): 2 dc, 3 ch, skip 1 cm, * work dc for 2 cm, 3 ch, skip 1 cm *, repeat from *-* a total of 5 times, finish with 2 dc at the top, turn and work back as follows: 1 dc in every dc and 3 dc in every ch-loop.

BUTTON PLEAT: Along the other side of the opening work 3 rows with dc back and forth with navy blue, cut the thread.
Sew the buttons on to 1st row of button pleat so that they match the button hole loops.
