See diagram M.1. Rounds are marked with 1, 2 and 3.

BAG:
Crochet 50 ch on crochet hook size 3.5 mm with off-white.
Round 1: Skip first ch and then crochet 1 dc on one side in each ch = 49 dc. Now crochet 1 dc on the other side in each ch = 98 dc. Finish with 1 sl st in the first dc.
Round 2: Crochet 3 ch (= 1 tr), 2 tr in the first dc, then 1 tr in each of the next 47 dc, crochet 2 tr in next dc, 1 tr in ch skipped on round 1, 2 tr in next dc, then 1 tr in each of the next 47 dc, 2 tr in next dc and finish with 1 sl st in 3rd ch from beg of round = 104 tr.
Round 3: 1 ch, then 1 dc in each tr = 104 dc. Finish with 1 sl st in ch from beg of round.
Round 4: 3 ch (= 1 tr), 2 tr in first dc, then 1 tr in each of the next 49 dc, 2 tr in next dc, 1 tr in next dc, 2 tr in next dc, then 1 tr in each of the next 49 dc, 2 tr in next dc and finish with 1 sl st in 3rd ch from beg of round.
There are now 108 tr on round.
Now continue in STRIPES - see above - and M.1 (beg of round marked with 1 in diagram). See CROCHET TIP!
Continue like this (repeat round 1 to 3) until piece measures approx 33 cm (adjust to after a round with dc). Crochet 2 rounds with dc in off-white, and then crochet 1 round with 1 sl st in each dc. Cut and fasten thread.

STRAP:
Crochet 10 ch with crochet hook size 3.5 mm and off-white. Crochet 1 dc in each ch = 10 dc. Continue with 1 dc in each dc back and forth for approx 5 cm. Now continue in the round with 1 dc in each dc until strap measures approx 60 cm. Crochet 1 dc in each dc back and forth for 5 cm, cut the thread and fasten.
Crochet 1 more strap in the same way. Sew a strap to each side of bag on WS.
