Knitted set of Santa hat and scarf for baby and children in 2 threads DROPS Alpaca

HAT:
Size: 2 - 3/4 - 5/6 - 7/8 years
Head circumference: approx 48 - 50 - 52 - 54 cm.
Materials: DROPS ALPACA
50 g for all sizes colour no 3620, red
50 g for all sizes colour no 1101, white

DROPS DOUBLE POINTED NEEDLES and CIRCULAR NEEDLE (40 cm) size 5 mm - or size needed to get 17 sts x 22 rows in stocking st with 2 threads = 10 x 10 cm.
DROPS CIRCULAR NEEDLE (40 cm) size 4.5 mm – for garter st.
DROPS CROCHET HOOK size 4.5 mm (for border)

SCARF:
Length: 55-60-65-70 cm
Materials: DROPS ALPACA
50-50-100-100 g colour no 3620, red

DROPS POINTED NEEDLES size 4 mm - or size needed to get 19 sts x 38 rows in garter st with 2 threads = 10 x 10 cm.

HAT:
GARTER ST (in the round): K 1 round, P 1 round.

HAT:
Worked in the round on circular needle and double pointed needles (change to double pointed needles when sts no longer fits circular needle). Cast on 75-78-84-88 sts on circular needle size 4.5 mm with 2 threads white. Work GARTER ST – see above – until piece measures 5-6-6-7 cm. Change to circular needle size 5 mm and 2 threads red and continue in stocking st. REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION!
When piece measures 11-13-13-16 cm insert 5-6-6-8 markers in piece with 15-13-14-11 sts between each. On next round dec 1 st after all markers by K2 tog = 5-6-6-8 dec sts. Repeat the dec on every 3rd round a total of 12-11-12-10 times = 15-12-12-8 sts left on double pointed needles. After the last dec K2 tog all the way round. Cut the thread, pull it through remaining sts, tighten and fasten. Hat measures approx 27-28-29-30 cm.

CROCHET BORDER:
Crochet a border round the hat with crochet hook size 4.5 mm and 2 threads white as follows, beg mid back: 1 dc, * 2 ch, skip approx 1.5 cm, 1 dc in next st *, repeat from *-* and finish with 2 ch and 1 sl st in dc from beg of round.

POMPOM:
Make a pompom with a diameter of approx 5 cm with white and attach pompom to the top of hat.

SCARF:
Worked back and forth on needle in garter st, i.e. K all rows. Cast on 18-20-22-24 sts on needle size 4 mm with 2 threads red and work garter st. When piece measures approx 9-10-11-12 cm divide the piece in 2 (for hole) and slip half the sts on a stitch holder = 9-10-11-12 sts. Continue on the remaining 9-10-11-12 sts on needle for 5-6-6-7 cm (piece now measures a total of 14-16-17-19 cm). Slip sts on a stitch holder and slip sts from the first stitch holder back on needle. Work 5-6-6-7 cm on these sts and now slip all sts back on the needle. Continue until scarf measures approx 55-60-65-70 cm and cast off.
