Measuring tip: Because of the weight of the yarn, make all measurements while the garment is hanging, otherwise it will be too long when worn.

Shawl: Knitted back and forth on circular needle from bottom edge and up. With 1 strand Alpaca cast on 2 sts on needle size 3 mm and work garter sts, at the same time inc 1 st each side on every other row by working 2 sts in the 3rd st from edge. Remember the knitting tension! Cast off loosely when piece measures 70 cm – see Measuring tip –from bottom point. Piece is approx 140 cm wide.

Crochet border: Crochet a border round the whole shawl with crochet hook size 5 mm and 1 thread of each quality as follows: 1 dc, *3 ch, skip approx 1 cm, 1 dc*, repeat from *-* and finish with 3 ch and 1 sl st in dc from beg of round.

Button cover: Crochet 3 button covers with crochet hook size 3 mm and 1 strand Cotton Viscose as follows: Crochet 2 ch, then 16 tr in the first ch and finish with a sl st at the top of the first tr = Round 1.
Round 2: 1 dc in each tr and finish with a sl st in the first dc from beg of round.
Round 3: 3 ch and then 1 tr in every other dc. Finish with a sl st in the 3rd ch on round = 8 tr
Put button inside the cover, run a thread round the edge and pull tight. Place the buttons along the casting off row, approx 4 cm from edge and 25, 35 and 45 cm from one side. Use crochet border on the other side as buttonholes.
