Knitted DROPS bag with cables in ”Snow”.
DROPS 103-42
Finished measure: approx 35 x 35 cm
Materials: DROPS Snow from Garnstudio
600 g colour no. 14, dark grey
DROPS Circular needle size 5 mm - or needle size needed to make 15 sts in stocking stitch on 10 cm in width.
|
Knitting tension: 15 sts in stocking stitch = 10 cm in width.
Moss stitch: 1st row: * K1, P1 *, repeat *-*. 2nd row: K over P and P over K. Repeat 2nd row.
Cable Pattern: See diagram M.1. Diagram is seen from RS.
Bag: Remember the knitting tension!
Due to the large number of sts the piece is knitted back and forth on a circular needle. The bag is knitted in one long piece and sewn tog in the sides afterwords. Cast on 74 sts (incl 1 edge sts in each side) on circular needle size 5 mm with Snow. K1 row on WS, then work in rib K3/P3 with 1 edge sts in each side. When piece measures 15 cm K2 rows – on the first row dec 2 sts evenly distributed = 72 sts. Following row knit like this – from RS:
1 edge sts, 6 sts in moss st - see explanation above, M.1 (58 sts) and finish with 6 sts in moss st and 1 edge sts. Continue until piece measures approx 85 cm - adjust after one whole repeat of M.1 in the height. K2 rows – on the first row inc 2 sts evenly distributed = 74 sts. Then work in rib P3/K3 with 1 edge sts in each side until piece measures 100 cm. Cast off with K over K and P over P.
Handles: Cast on 10 sts on circular needle size 5 mm with 2 threads Snow. Knit moss st back and forth with double threads until piece measures 90 cm. Cast off. Knit one more handle.
Assembly: Fold the bag double and sew tog in each side. The upper 15 cm with rib shall be folded, so these cm’s are sewn from RS so that the seam isn’t showing when folded down. Sew both handles on top of each other in each side so the handle is double.
