Version A:
200-250 g colour no 17, mint
150-150 g colour no 18, pink

DROPS pointed needles size 2 and 5 mm, double pointed needles size 2.5 mm, small circular needle (40 cm) size 4 and 5 mm - or size needed to obtain 16 sts x 24 rows in stocking st and 16 sts x 34 rows in English rib (remember 1 vertical st = 2 rows in English rib) on needle size 5 mm = 10 x 10 cm.

English Rib: Row 1: 1 edge st, * K1, 1 YO, slip 1 st as if to K *, repeat from *-*, 1 edge st. Row 2: 1 edge st, * K tog slipped st and YO from previous row, 1 YO, slip 1 st as if to P *, repeat from *-*, 1 edge st. Repeat row 2.

Front piece: Worked back and forth on needle. Colours in ( ) refer to Version B. Cast on 99-109 sts on needle size 2.5 mm with mint (pink) and work 8 cm stocking st, P 1 row (= folding edge, measure piece from here), 8 cm stocking st, at the same time dec 14-16 sts evenly on last row = 85-93 sts. Change to needle size 5 mm and continue in stocking st in mint (lilac) until piece measures 59-61 cm from folding edge. Now cast off the middle 13-17 sts for neck and complete each shoulder separately. Cast off to shape the neckline at the beg of every row from mid front: 2 sts 4 times. Cast off remaining 28-30 sts on shoulder when piece measures 63-65 cm from folding edge.
Back piece: Cast on and work like front piece, but cast off the middle 17-21 sts when piece measures 60-62 cm. Cast off to shape the neckline at the beg of every row from neck: 2 sts 3 times. Cast off for shoulder as described for front piece.
Right sleeve: Worked in the round. Cast on 46 sts on double pointed needles size 2.5 mm with mint (lilac) and work 8 cm stocking st, P 1 round (= folding edge, measure piece from here), 8 cm stocking st, at the same time inc 18 sts evenly on the last round = 64 sts. Change to small circular needle size 5 mm and continue in stocking st, at the same time inc 2 sts mid under arm on every 5th round a total of 16 times = 96 sts. Cast off when piece measures 46 cm.
Left sleeve: Like right sleeve, but work the sleeve in lilac (pink) with rib in mint (lilac) as for right sleeve.
Cables:
Version A: Make 2 cables, 1 in lilac and 1 in pink. Cast on 31 sts on needle size 5 mm and work English rib. Cast off loosely when cable measures 70 cm. Sew 1 cable to each shoulder, the pink to right shoulder on front piece and the lilac to left shoulder on front piece. Twist the pink cable once, and attach the other end to the side of left front piece towards bottom edge. Twist the lilac cable and attach to right front piece in the same way.
Version B: Make 2 cables, 1 in white and 1 in pink. Cast on 33 sts on needle size 5 mm and work English rib. Cast off loosely when cable measures 66 cm. Sew the white cable to each shoulder on front piece and sew the pink cable to bottom of front piece each side in the transition between pink and lilac – attach to one side first, pull cable through the white cable and attach the other side.
Assembly: Sew shoulder seams. Pick up approx 112 sts round neckline on needle size 2 mm with mint (lilac) and work 3 cm stocking st, P 1 round, 3 cm stocking st, cast off and fold edge double towards WS and fasten. Mark the armhole, and sew side seams. Set in sleeves. Fold all edges double towards WS and fasten.
Shawl with hood, version A: Cast on 56 sts on needle size 5 mm with pink and work 5 cm garter st back and forth on needle. Continue in stocking st with 6 sts each side in garter st. When piece measures 200 cm work 5 cm garter st on all sts and cast off. Fold shawl double lengthwise and sew approx 30 cm at one side from fold towards the bottom = hood.
Loose neck, version B: Cast on 128 sts on needle size 4 mm with pink and work 4 cm garter st. Change to needle size 5 mm and continue in stocking st, at the same time dec 4 sts evenly on every 10th row 5 times (dec by K2 tog into back of loop) = 108 sts. When piece measures 51 cm work 4 cm garter st on all sts and cast off. Piece measures approx 55 cm.
