DROPS circular and double pointed needles size 3.5 and 5 mm - or size needed to obtain 17 sts x 21 rows in pattern and stocking st on needle size 5 mm = 10 x 10 cm.

Pattern: See diagram M.1 to M.3. The diagram shows the pattern from the RS and the entire pattern is worked in stocking st. English translations for the wording in diagrams are given at the bottom of this pattern and they are given in the vertical order in which they appear in the diagram.
Rib: * K1, P1 *. Repeat from *-*.

Body: The jumper is worked in the round on circular needle and cut for armholes afterwards. Cast on 156-164-168 sts on circular needle size 3.5 mm with off-white and work 6 cm Rib. Change to circular needle size 5 mm and continue in M.3, at the same time inc 36-40-48 sts evenly on first round = 192-204-216 sts. Remember the knitting tension! After M.3 continue in M.1 until piece measures 30 cm. Now work M.2 with yellow, for size S-L: 8-9 penguins on front and back piece, for size M: make sure to place a penguin mid front when inc for armhole. When piece measures 32-33-33 cm inc 4 sts each side (to be cut for armhole afterwards and not included in pattern). When piece measures 59-60-60 cm cast off the middle 34-34-36 sts mid front for neck and complete piece back and forth on needle. Dec to shape the neckline on every other row: 3 sts 1 time, 2 sts 1 times, 1 st 1 time. When piece measures 61-62-62 cm cast off the middle 38-38-40 sts for neck mid back and cast off 1 st on neckline on next row. Cast off remaining sts when piece measures 62-63-63 cm.
Sleeve: Cast on 36-36-38 sts on double pointed needles size 3.5 mm with off-white and work 5 cm Rib. Change to double pointed needles size 5 mm, K 1 round, at the same time inc 14-16-14 sts evenly on round = 50-52-52 sts. Now work M.3 (place a pattern repeat mid upper sleeve), at the same time inc 2 sts mid under arm a total of 26-25-26 times on every * 3rd, 3rd and 4th * round alternately = 102-102-104 sts. Incorporate inc sts in pattern as you go along. After M.3 complete piece in M.1 (place a pattern repeat mid upper sleeve. When piece measures 50 cm work 2 cm in reverse stocking st (for sewing sleeve to body piece). Cast off.
Assembly: Insert a marking thread in the middle of the inc sts for armhole. Sew 2 seams on a sewing machine around the marking thread, 1st seam = ½ st from the MT, 2nd seam = ½ st from the 1st seam. Cut for armholes. Sew the shoulder seams. Pick up approx 94 sts round the neck on double pointed needles size 3.5 mm with yellow and work 2.5 cm stocking st, change to off-white, K 1 round, P 1 round, 2.5 cm stocking st, cast off and fold edge double towards WS and fasten. Set in sleeves as follows: sew the last row in stocking st on sleeves to row after machine seam on armhole. Turn jumper inside out and fasten piece in reverse stocking st on sleeve to body piece.
