DROPS 74-14

DROPS Short Wide Pullover in Ribbon

DROPS 74-14
Sizes: S - M - L - XL - XXL
Finished measurements: 114-120-126-132-138 cm

On account of the weight of the yarn the garment will be approx. 5 cm smaller than indicated on diagram when worn.

Materials: DROPS RIBBON (discontinued)
50 g./78 m./85 yards
450-500-550-600-650 gr nr 02, natural.

Alternate yarns:
* DROPS PARIS from Garnstudio, 100% cotton, 50 g/75 m./82 yards

DROPS 6 mm and 7 mm needles, or sizes needed to obtain correct gauge.
Short circular needles 6 mm (for the neck), or size needed to obtain correct gauge.

Gauge: 14 sts on larger needles in Pattern 1 = 10 cm in width. Pattern 2 must be knit on smaller needles to obtain the same gauge.

Knitting tip: Ribbon tends to twist when knit. For best results, untwist the yarn as you go along.

Measuring tips: Due to the weight of the yarn, the pattern pulls in – make all measurements with the garment held up.

Pattern 1: See chart. The pattern is seen from the wrong side.

Pattern 2: As seen from RS:
* 2 rows stockinette st, 1 row reverse stockinette st (= P on RS, K on WS) *, repeat from * - *.

Garter st, when knitting flat: Knit all sts, all rows.
Garter st, when knitting in the round: *Rnd 1, knit. Rnd 2, purl.* Repeat from * - *.

FRONT
Cast on 82-86-90-94-98 sts on smaller needles. Knit 4 rows garter st, change to larger needles and Pattern 1. When the piece measures 25-26-27-28-29 cm dec 1 st at each side = 80-84-88-92-96 sts (this is the beginning of armhole).
At the same time change to smaller needles and knit Pattern 2 to finished dimensions. When the piece measures 36-37-39-40-42 cm bind off the center 12 sts for the neck. Then bind off at each neck edge every other row: 2 sts 1 time and 1 st 3 times = 29-31-33-35-37 sts remain on each shoulder. Bind off when the piece measures 41-43-45-47-49 cm.

BACK
Cast on and knit the same as the front. Dec 1 st for armhole as on front and continue in Pattern 2 until the piece measures 39-41-43-45-47 cm. Now bind off the center 20 sts for the neck. Then bind off 1 st at each neck edge on the next row = 29-31-33-35-37 sts remain on each shoulder. Bind off when the piece measures 41-43-45-47-49 cm.

SLEEVE
Sew shoulder seams. Pick up 50-54-58-62-66 sts (multiple of 4 + 2 sts) around armhole on larger needles with Ribbon – start where Pattern 2 starts on the body. Knit Pattern 1, but do not knit 1 edge st at each side in the pattern. When sleeve measures approx. 44-43-43-42-41 cm change to smaller needles, knit 4 rows garter st, bind off.

ASSEMBLY
Pick up approx. 52-60 sts around the neck on smaller short circular needles. Knit 4 rows garter st, bind off. Sew sleeve and side seams using edge sts as a seam allowance.

on WS: knit 3 sts in 1 st as follows: K 1 in front of st, K 1 in back of st, K 1 in front of st. = on WS: knit 3 sts in 1 st as follows: K 1 in front of st, K 1 in back of st, K 1 in front of st.
