Knitting Tension: 17sts x 21 rows stocking st on needles size 5mm = 10x10cm.
Short version: Dec measurements on body from cast on edge to arm hole, neck and cast off edge by 10 (12) cm. Yarn requirement is reduced by 50 (100) g cream. Pattern on body: After the rib, work M.2.
Rib: *K1, P1*
Pattern: See diagram (1 diagram = 1 repeat). Pattern is seen from RS and worked in stocking st
Body: Sweater is knitted on circ needle and armholes are then cut open. Cast on 165 (171) sts on long circ needle size 3.5mm with cream. Work 5 cm rib. Change to circ needle size 5mm and work M.1, and at the same time inc 27 (37) sts evenly on first round = 192 (208) sts. Complete M.1, then continue in cream until piece measures 15 (17) cm. Remember to check your tension. Continue working M.2, M.3, M.4 and then finish in cream.
At the same time when piece measures 43 (46) cm, inc 4 sts each side for armhole (these sts are for cutting later and are not knitted in pattern).
At the same time when piece measures 69 (72) cm, cast off 34 (36) sts centre front for neck, continue as follows knitting back and forth on needle. Dec for neck on every other row as follows: 2 sts once, 1 st once. At the same time when piece measures 71 (74) cm cast off centre 36 (38) sts for back neck. Dec 2 sts each side of neck on next row. Cast off when piece measures approx 73 (76) cm.
Sleeves: Cast on 36 (39) sts on double pointed needles size 3.5mm with cream and work 5 cm rib. Change to double pointed needles size 5mm, and stocking st, and at the same time inc 12 (11) sts evenly on first round = 48 (50) sts. At the same time inc underneath sleeve each side of centre st as follows: 1 st 27 (27) times on every 3rd round = 102 (104)sts.
At the same time when piece measures 9 (8) cm, work M.2 (centre 1 repeat of all patterns on top of sleeve), M.3, then M.4 to finished length. Continue until piece measures 50 (49) cm. Work 2 cm reverse stocking st. This is facing for the cutting edge on the body. Cast off.
Assembly: Mark the middle of the increased stitches each side with a thread. Sew two machine seams each side of the thread ½ stitch away from thread, then ½ stitch from first seam. Cut open for armholes along the marking thread. Sew shoulder seams. Pick up approx 90 sts around neck on double pointed needles size, 3.5mm with cream and work 6 cm as follows: *2 sts cream, 1 st pink, * Then work in cream as follows: K1 round, P 1 round, K1 round, P 1 round. Cast off. Insert sleeves into body RS facing as follows: sew alternatively 1 stitch in arm facing and I stitch in the body other side of machined seam. Turn sweater inside out and sew sleeve facing over the cut edge on the body by hand.
