EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN:

-------------------------------------------------------

INCREASE TIP-1:
INCREASE 1 STITCH TOWARDS LEFT – from RIGHT SIDE:
Use the left needle to pick up the strand between 2 stitches from the row below, pick up the strand from the front and knit through the stitch-loop that lies on the back of the needle.
INCREASE 1 STITCH TOWARDS THE RIGHT- from RIGHT SIDE:
Use the left needle to pick up the strand between 2 stitches from the row below, pick up the strand from the back and knit through the stitch-loop that lies on the front of the needle.

INCREASE TIP-2:

INCREASE 1 STITCH TOWARDS LEFT – from WRONG SIDE:
Use the left needle to pick up the strand between 2 stitches from the row below, pick up the strand from the front and purl through the stitch-loop that lies on the back of the needle.

KNITTING TIP:
When working short rows, there will be a small hole after each turn. This hole can be closed by tightening the strand or using the technique German Short Rows as follows:
Slip the first stitch purl-wise, take the strand over the right needle and tighten well from the back (2 loops on the needle). These loops are worked together on the next row.

DECREASE TIP:
Decrease 1 stitch on each side of the marker-thread as follows:
Work until there are 4 stitches left before the marker-thread, knit 2 together, knit 4 (marker-thread sits in the middle of these 4 stitches), slip 1 stitch knit-wise, knit 1 and pass the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch (2 stitches decreased).

START THE PIECE HERE:

-------------------------------------------------------

JUMPER – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE:
The pattern uses both long and short needles; start with the length which fits the number of stitches and change when necessary.
The piece is started back and forth, casting on stitches at the back of the neck and working the back piece top down while increasing stitches on each side for the shoulders, which become slightly diagonal. The back piece is worked as far as the armholes.
The front piece is then worked in 2 sections, knitting up stitches along one back shoulder, working stocking stitch and increasing for the neckline. This is repeated on the other shoulder. The 2 front sections are joined when the neckline is finished and worked as far as the armholes.
The front and back pieces are joined on the same circular needle and the body is finished in the round.
Stitches are knitted up around the armholes for the sleeves which are started back and forth for the sleeve cap, then finished in the round. Stitches are knitted up around the neckline and the neck is worked in the round to finish.

BACK PIECE:
The piece is worked back and forth.
Cast on 34-34-36-36-40-40-40 stitches with circular needle size 4 mm and DROPS Merino Extra Fine or DROPS Cotton Merino.
ROW 1 (wrong side): Purl.
ROW 2 (right side): Read INCREASE TIP-1. Knit 3, increase 1 stitch towards the left, knit until there are 3 stitches left on the row, increase 1 stitch towards the right, knit 3.
ROW 3 (wrong side): Read INCREASE TIP-2. Purl 3, increase 1 stitch towards the right, purl until there are 3 stitches left on the row, increase 1 stitch towards the left, purl 3.
Work ROWS 2 and 3 a total of 15-16-17-19-20-22-24 times (30-32-34-38-40-44-48 rows worked). Work ROW 2 one more time.
After the last increase there are 96-100-106-114-122-130-138 stitches. Remember to maintain the knitting tension.
Insert 1 marker on one side. The piece is now measured from here! Continue stocking stitch until the piece measures 10-9-9-9-10-8-7 cm from the marker. Now increase for the armholes.

INCREASE FOR ARMHOLES:
ROW 1 (right side): Remember INCREASE TIP-1. Knit 3, increase 1 stitch towards the left, knit until there are 3 stitches left on the row, increase 1 stitch towards the right, knit 3.
ROW 2 (wrong side): Purl.
Work ROWS 1 and 2 a total of 1-4-5-5-5-8-10 times (2-8-10-10-10-16-20 rows worked) = 98-108-116-124-132-146-158 stitches.
Continue working until the piece measures 11-12-13-13-14-14-14 cm from the marker, measured along the armhole; finishing after a row from the wrong side. Cut the strand and place the stitches on a thread/stitch holder. Now work the left front piece along the left back shoulder as follows.

LEFT FRONT PIECE:
Find the left back shoulder as follows: Lay the back piece flat, right side up, with the stitch holder/thread towards you; left side of piece = left shoulder.
Start from the right side by the neck on the left back shoulder and knit up 1 stitch in each row worked, inside the outermost stitch as far as the armhole (31-33-35-39-41-45-49 stitches), finish by knitting up 1 stitch outermost on the shoulder = 32-34-36-40-42-46-50 shoulder-stitches.
All measurements on the front piece are taken from this knitted-up row.
Work stocking stitch with the first row from the wrong side.
When the piece measures 5-5-6-6-6-6-6 cm, increase for the neckline as follows:
ROW 1 (right side): Remember INCREASE TIP-1. Knit 3, increase 1 stitch towards the left, knit to end of row.
ROW 2 (wrong side): Purl.
Work ROWS 1 and 2 a total of 7-7-7-7-8-8-8 times (14-14-14-14-16-16-16 rows worked) = 39-41-43-47-50-54-58 stitches. The next row is from the right side and the piece measures approx. 10-10-11-11-12-12-12 cm from the knitted-up row.
Cut the strand and place the stitches on a thread/stitch holder. Now work the right front piece along the right back shoulder as follows.

RIGHT FRONT PIECE:
Start from the right side by the armhole on the right back shoulder and knit up 1 stitch outermost on the shoulder, then knit up 1 stitch in each row worked, inside the outermost stitch as far as the neckline (31-33-35-39-41-45-49 stitches) = 32-34-36-40-42-46-50 stitches.
All measurements on the front piece are taken from this knitted-up row.
Work stocking stitch with the first row from the wrong side.
When the piece measures 5-5-6-6-6-6-6 cm, increase for the neckline as follows:
ROW 1 (right side): Knit until there are 3 stitches left on the row, increase 1 stitch towards the right, knit 3 - remember INCREASE TIP-1.
The 2 front pieces are now joined as follows.

FRONT PIECE (right and left front piece joined):
Working from the right side:
Knit the 39-41-43-47-50-54-58 stitches on the right front piece, cast on 18-18-20-20-22-22-22 stitches for the neckline, knit the 39-41-43-47-50-54-58 stitches on the left front piece = 96-100-106-114-122-130-138 stitches.
Work stocking stitch back and forth until the piece measures 26-25-25-27-28-28-29 cm.

Continue working until the piece measures 27-28-29-31-32-34-36 cm, finishing after a row from the wrong side.
Now the front and back pieces are joined for the body as follows (NOTE: the front piece is longer than the back piece; approx. 2 cm of the neck-depth will lie on the back of the garment.

BODY:
Knit the 98-108-116-124-132-146-158 stitches on the front piece, cast on 2-2-2-2-4-4-4 stitches (mid-under the sleeve), knit the 98-108-116-124-132-146-158 stitches on the back piece, cast on 2-2-2-2-4-4-4 stitches (mid-under the sleeve) = 200-220-236-252-272-300-324 stitches.
Continue stocking stitch in the round until the piece measures 50-52-54-56-57-59-61 cm from the cast-on edge mid-back.
Change to circular needle size 3 mm. Work rib (knit 2, purl 2), AT THE SAME TIME increase 44-44-48-52-56-60-64 stitches evenly on the first row = 244-264-284-304-328-360-388 stitches. When the rib measures 4-4-4-4-5-5-5 cm, cast off with rib.
The jumper measures approx. 54-56-58-60-62-64-66 cm from the cast-on edge mid-back and 56-58-60-62-64-66-68 cm from top of shoulder.

SLEEVES:
The sleeve is worked top down.
Lay the piece flat and insert 1 marker at the top of the armhole. NOTE: This is not where stitches were knitted up for the front piece but a few cms down on the front piece.
Use circular needle size 4 mm; knit up tightly or use a smaller needle size.
KNIT UP STITCHES AS FOLLOWS:
Start in the middle of the cast-on stitches under the sleeve and knit up 78-82-86-90-96-100-104 stitches around the armhole, with equal numbers of stitches on both sides of the marker.
SLEEVE CAP:
To give the sleeve a better fit, work short rows in stocking stitch back and forth for the sleeve cap, starting from mid-under the sleeve as follows:
ROW 1 (right side): Knit to 9-9-10-10-10-13-13 stitches past the marker on top of the sleeve, turn – read KNITTING TIP.
ROW 2 (wrong side): Purl to 9-9-10-10-10-13-13 stitches past the marker, turn.
ROW 3 (right side): Knit to 3-3-3-3-3-2-2 stitches past the previous turn, turn.
ROW 4 (wrong side): Purl to 3-3-3-3-3-2-2 stitches past the previous turn, turn.
Repeat ROWS 3 and 4 until you have turned a total of 18-20-20-20-22-26-26 times (9-10-10-10-11-13-13 times each side, with the last row from the wrong side).

AFTER THE LAST TURN:
After the last time you work row 4, turn and knit back to the beginning of the round (mid-under sleeve).
Insert 1 marker-thread here; it is used when decreasing under the sleeve. Allow it to follow your work onwards.
SLEEVE CONTINUED:
Work stocking stitch in the round. AT THE SAME TIME after the first round, decrease 2 stitches mid-under the sleeve as follows - read DECREASE TIP:
Decrease 2 stitches 3 times every 2nd round, then decrease 2 stitches 8-9-10-10-12-13-14 times every 2-2-2-2-1½-1½-1 cm = 56-58-60-64-66-68-70 stitches.
Continue working until the sleeve measures 48-48-48-47-45-44-43 cm from mid-top of shoulder.

Change to double pointed needles size 3 mm. Work rib (knit 2, purl 2), AT THE SAME TIME increase 12-10-12-12-14-12-14 stitches evenly on the first round = 68-68-72-76-80-80-84 stitches.
When the rib measures 4-4-4-4-5-5-5 cm, cast off with rib. The sleeve measures approx. 52-52-52-51-50-49-48 cm from mid-top of shoulder.

NECK:
Use circular needle size 3 mm. Start from the right side on one shoulder-line and knit up 96-96-104-104-116-116-116 stitches around the neckline, within 1 stitch. The stitch count should be divisible by 4. Making sure the 2 knitted stitches on the rib match the 2 knitted stitches on the shoulder-line on the back piece, work rib in the round (knit 2 and purl 2) for 4-4-4-5-5-6-6 cm,. Cast off slightly loosely with rib.
