Knitted blanket for babies in DROPS Karisma. The piece is worked back and forth with relief-pattern and I-cord.

SIZES:
The blanket is worked in sizes S – M – L
Width (approx.) = 50-58-66 cm. Length = 60-70-80 cm.

YARN:
DROPS KARISMA from Garnstudio (belongs to yarn group B)
250-250-300 g colour 91, Almond

NEEDLES:
DROPS CIRCULAR NEEDLE SIZE 4.5 MM: Length 80 cm.

KNITTING TENSION:
21 stitches in width with pattern on needle size 4.5 mm = 10 x 10 cm.
20 stitches in width and 40 rows in height with garter stitch on needle size 4.5 mm = 10 x 10 cm.
NOTE: Remember, the needle size is only a guide. If you get too many stitches on 10 cm, change to a larger needle size. If you get to few stitches on 10 cm, change to a smaller needle size.

EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN:

EDGE STITCHES WITH I-CORD:
BEGINNING OF ROW:
Knit 2 twisted together, make 1 yarn over.
END OF ROW:
Work until there are 2 stitches left on the row, slip 2 stitches purl-wise with the strand in front.
Work in the same way from both the right and wrong side.

GARTER STITCH:
Knit all rows, from both the right and wrong side.
1 ridge in height = knit 2 rows.

PATTERN:
See diagrams A.1 and A.2.
The diagrams are worked from right to left when working from the right side and left to right when working from the wrong side.

BLANKET – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE:
The blanket is worked back and forth with circular needles.

BLANKET:
Cast on 103-118-133 stitches with circular needle size 4.5 mm and DROPS Karisma.
Work as follows, with the first row from the right side:
ROW 1 (right side): Work 2 EDGE STITCHES WITH I-CORD – read explanation above, then GARTER STITCH until there are 2 stitches left on the row, work 2 edge stitches with I-cord.
ROW 2 (wrong side): Work 2 edge stitches as before, garter stitch until there are 2 stitches left, 2 edge stitches as before.
Work ROWS 1 and 2 for a total of 4 rows.
Then work ROWS 1 and 2 one more time but on ROW 1 increase 5-6-7 stitches evenly across the middle 91-106-121 stitches (do not increase across the outermost 6 stitches on each side) = 108-124-140 stitches.
The last row is from the wrong side.
Remember to maintain the knitting tension.

Now work PATTERN as follows – read explanation above, with the first row from the right side:
Work 2 edge stitches as before, then A.1 across 4 stitches, A.2 until there are 6 stitches left, work A.1 and 2 edge stitches as before.
Repeat the diagrams in height until the piece measures 58-68-78 cm, with the last row according to row 4 or 14 in diagram A.2. The last row is worked from the wrong side.

Work ROWS 1 and 2 in the same way as at the beginning of the blanket, but on ROW 1 decrease 5-6-7 stitches evenly across the middle 91-106-121 stitches = 103-118-133 stitches.
Work ROWS 1 and 2, two more times, without decreasing.
Cast off with knit from the right side. Cut and fasten the strand.
