EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN:
-------------------------------------------------------
STRIPES:
The whole slipper is worked in stripes: First 14 rows with colour Medium Pink, then * 2 rows with colour Off White, 10 rows with colour Medium Pink *, repeating from *-* to finished measurements.
INCREASE TIP:
All increases are worked from the right side!
Work until there is 1 stitch left before the marker-thread, make 1 yarn over, knit 2 (marker-thread sits between these 2 stitches), make 1 yarn over.
Repeat at the second marker-thread. On the next row, purl the tarn overs twisted to avoid holes.

SLIPPERS - SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE:
The piece is worked back and forth in one piece from front to back, then sewn together.
SLIPPER:
Cast on 8-9-10-11-12-13 stitches with needle size 5 mm and colour Medium Pink DROPS Nepal. Leave a strand-end of approx. 50 cm for assembly.
Purl 1 row from the wrong side, at the same time as working 2 stitches in each stitch until there is 0-1-0-1-1-1 stitch left, purl 0-1-0-1-1-1 = 16-17-20-21-23-25 stitches.
Remember to maintain the knitting tension.
Insert 2 marker-threads, each one 4-4-5-5-6-6 stitches in from each side.
Work stocking stitch and STRIPES – read explanation above. AT THE SAME TIME on row 6, increase 1 stitch on each side of both marker-threads (4 increased stitches) – read INCREASE TIP.
Increase like this on each row from the right side a total of 7 times = 44-45-48-49-51-53 stitches.
Continue working until the piece measures 15-15-16-18-20-22 cm.
Now cast on 8 stitches each side for the leg = 60-61-64-65-67-69 stitches. Continue with stocking stitch and stripes. When the piece measures 31-33-36-40-43-48 cm, cast off loosely. Leave a strand-end of approx. 20 cm for assembly.
ASSEMBLY:
Thread the strand-end through the cast-on stitches on the toe, tighten, then sew the seam on top of the foot in the outermost loop of the outermost stitch so the seam is flat, working up to and including the cast-on stitches for the leg. Sew the cast-off edge together mid-back, edge to edge so the seam is flat.
FELTING:
The piece can either be felted in the washing machine or in the tumble dryer as explained below.
Remember: The piece is subsequently washed as a normal wool garment.
IN WASHING MACHINE:
Felting will vary in different washing machines. If the piece is not felted enough, you can felt it again. If it is felted too much it can be stretched to the correct size while still wet.
FELT AS FOLLOWS:
Put the slippers in the washing machine, using a 40 min. wash (not the wool programme).
Wash at 40 degrees without pre-wash; detergent is optional. After washing, shape the piece while still wet.
IN TUMBLE DRYER:
Felting in the tumble dryer gives you good control of the felting process. The tumble dryer can be opened and the size of the piece checked. If the piece is not felted enough, you can wet it again and repeat the process. If it is felted too much it can be stretched to the correct size while still wet,
FELT AS FOLLOWS:
Lay the piece in water until it is thoroughly wet, then place it in the tumble dryer and begin drying. Felt to the desired size, checking every now and again.
