EXPLANATION FOR THE PATTERN:
----------------------------------------------------------
GARTER STITCH:
Knit on all rows, i.e. knit from right side and knit from wrong side.
1 ridge vertically = knit 2 rows.
INCREASE TIP:
Increase on each side of stitches with markers, increase by making 1 yarn over. On next round knit yarn over twisted to avoid holes.

START THE PIECE HERE:

SLIPPERS – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE:
In this pattern needles of different length have been used, begin with fitting length for number of stitches and switch as needed.
Slippers are worked in the round from the toe, cast off stitches mid on top of slipper, then work piece back and forth until finished measurements. Sew the slipper together mid back before felting.
SLIPPER:
Cast on 8-8-10 on double pointed needles size 8 mm with DROP Snow, leave approx. 15 cm yarn at the end for assembly.
Insert a marker thread at beginning of round – use this when dividing the piece mid on top of slipper.
Knit 1 round while at the same time inserting 2 markers in the piece as follows: Insert 1st marker in the 4th-4th-5th stitch and insert 2nd marker in the 8th-8th-10th stitch.
Work in the round in stocking stitch while at the same time increasing on each side of stitches with markers - read INCREASE TIP in explanation above. Increase like this every other round 5-6-6 times in total = 28-32-34 stitches. Remember to follow the knitting tension!
Work round until piece measures approx. 18½-20-22 cm from cast-on edge. Now the divide the piece mid on top of slipper as follows: Begin at the marker thread at the beginning of round and cast off the first 3-3-4 stitches knitwise, knit the rest of round = 25-29-30 stitches. Work back and forth in stocking stitch with 4 stitches in GARTER STITCH in each side – read explanation above. Work until piece measures approx. 44½-50-53½ cm from cast-on edge and cast off by knitting.
ASSEMBLY:
Baste the yarn from the beginning of piece through cast-on edge, tighten the yarn and fasten. Fold the slipper so that the cast-off edges meet mid back - sew together the cast-off edge, sew in outermost stitches to avoid a chunky seam.
FELTING:
Piece is felted in the washing machine or in the dryer - read explanation below.
Remember: At subsequent wash, wash the piece at regular wool cycle.
IN THE WASHING MACHINE:
Washing machines felt differently. If the piece is felted too little, it can be felted again. If the piece is felted too much, it can be stretched to the correct size while still wet.
DO THE FOLLOWING:
Place piece in the machine, use a programme that lasts for approx. 40 minutes (not wool programme).
Wash at 40 degrees without pre-wash - soap is optional. After wash shape the piece while wet.
IN THE DRYER:
To felt in the dryer gives more control over how much the piece is felted. The dryer can be opened during the felting to check the size of the piece. If the piece is felted too little, it can be soaked and felted again. If the piece is felted too much, it can be stretched to the correct size while still wet.
DO THE FOLLOWING:
Place piece in water to soak it through. Then place the piece in the dryer and begin the drying process. Dry until piece has the desired size - check while tumbling.
