START THE PIECE HERE:

-------------------------------------------------------

MITTENS - SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE:
The piece is worked in the round with double pointed needles, from the cuff upwards, while increasing stitches for the thumb. When the thumb-increases are finished, the stitches are placed on a stitch holder while the hand is finished. The thumb is worked in the round to finish.

RIGHT MITTEN:.
The piece is worked in the round with double pointed needles.
Cast on 36-38-41-43-46-48-50 stitches with double pointed needles size 3.5 mm and DROPS Fiesta. Knit 1 round and decrease 6-6-7-7-8-8-8 stitches evenly on the round by knitting 2 stitches together = 30-32-34-36-38-40-42 stitches.
Purl 1 round, knit 1 round, purl 1 round.
Continue with stocking stitch until the piece measures 4 cm from the cast-on edge. Change to double pointed needles size 3 mm. Work rib (knit 1, purl 1) for 3-3-3-3-4-4-4 cm. The piece measures approx. 7-7-7-7-8-8-8 cm from the cast-on edge.
Change back to double pointed needles size 3.5 mm. Continue with stocking stitch, AT THE SAME TIME increase 1 stitch on one side of the mitten – read INCREASE TIP, as follows:
Knit 8-9-10-10-11-12-13, increase 1 stitch towards the left, knit to end of round (1 stitch increased).
Increase like this every 2nd round 6-7-6-7-7-7-7 times, then every round 1-1-3-2-3-4-5 times (a total of 7-8-9-9-10-11-12 increased stitches) = 37-40-43-45-48-51-54 stitches. Remember to maintain the knitting tension.
The mitten measures approx. 11½-12-12-12½-13½-14-14½ cm from the cast-on edge.
Work the next round as follows: Place the first 8-9-10-10-11-12-13 stitches on a stitch holder (thumb-stitches), cast on 1 stitch above the thumb-stitches, knit to end of round = 30-32-34-36-38-40-42 stitches.
Continue with stocking stitch until the mitten measures 16-17-18-19-20-21-22 cm from the cast-on edge.
On the next round, decrease 4 stitches evenly spaced by knitting 2 together. Decrease 4 stitches like this every 2nd round a total of 2 times, then every round 2-2-3-3-4-4-4 times = 14-16-14-16-14-16-18 stitches. On the next round knit all stitches together 2 and 2 = 7-8-7-8-7-8-9 stitches. Cut the strand, thread it through the remaining stitches, tighten and fasten well. The mitten measures approx. 18-19-20-21-23-24-25 cm.

THUMB:
Place the 8-9-10-10-11-12-13 thumb-stitches from the stitch holder on double pointed needles size 3.5 mm and knit up 3 stitches behind the thumb (in 1 stitch before the cast-on stitch, cast-on stitch and 1 stitch after the cast-on stitch) = 11-12-13-13-14-15-16 stitches. Work stocking stitch in the round for 3½-4-4½-5-5-5½-6 cm. On the next round, knit 1-0-1-1-0-1-0, then knit the remaining stitches together 2 and 2 = 6-6-7-7-7-8-8 stitches. Cut the strand, thread it through the remaining stitches, tighten and fasten well.

LEFT MITTEN:
Work in the same way as the right mitten until the piece measures 7-7-7-7-8-8-8 cm from the cast-on edge.
Change back to double pointed needles size 3.5 mm. Continue with stocking stitch, AT THE SAME TIME increase 1 stitch on one side of the mitten – remember INCREASE TIP, as follows:
Knit until there are 8-9-10-10-11-12-13 stitches left on the round, increase 1 stitch towards the right, knit to end of round (1 stitch increased).
Increase like this every 2nd round 6-7-6-7-7-7-7 times, then every round 1-1-3-2-3-4-5 times (a total of 7-8-9-9-10-11-12 increased stitches) = 37-40-43-45-48-51-54 stitches.
The mitten measures approx. 11½-12-12-12½-13½-14-14½ cm from the cast-on edge.
Work the next round as follows: Work until there are 8-9-10-10-11-12-13 stitches left on the round, cast on 1 stitch above the thumb-stitches and place the last 8-9-10-10-11-12-13 stitches on a stitch holder (thumb-stitches) = 30-32-34-36-38-40-42 stitches.
