EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN:
-------------------------------------------------------
ELEVATION:
To make the jumper slightly higher at the back of the neck when working a round yoke, you can work an elevation as described here. Skip this section if you do not want an elevation.
Start from the right side and knit 16-17-18-19-20-21 stitches from the marker-thread at the beginning of the round (= mid-back), turn and purl 32-34-36-38-40-42 stitches. Work German Short Rows to avoid holes – see below.
Turn, tighten the strand and knit 48-51-54-57-60-63, turn, tighten the strand and purl 64-68-72-76-80-84.
Turn, tighten the strand and knit 80-85-90-95-100-105, turn, tighten the strand and purl 96-102-108-114-120-126.
Turn, tighten the strand and knit back to the marker-thread mid-back. Then continue the yoke as described in the text.
GERMAN SHORT ROWS:
When working short rows, there will be a small hole after each turn. This hole can be closed by tightening the strand or using the technique German Short Rows as follows:
Slip the first stitch purl-wise, take the strand over the right needle and tighten well from the back (2 loops on the needle). These loops are worked together on the next row.
PATTERN:
See diagram A.1. The pattern is worked in stocking stitch.
KNITTING TIP:
To avoid the knitting tension becoming tighter when working pattern, it is important that the strands at the back are not tight. Use a larger needle size when working pattern if necessary.
INCREASE TIP:
Increase 1 stitch by making 1 yarn over, which is knitted twisted on the next round to avoid a hole. The new stitch is then worked in stocking stitch.
DECREASE TIP (for mid-under sleeves):
Decrease 1 stitch on each side of the marker-thread as follows:
Work until there are 3 stitches left before the marker-thread, knit 2 together, knit 2 (marker-thread sits between these 2 stitches), slip 1 stitch knit-wise, knit 1 and pass the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch (2 stitches decreased).

JUMPER – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE:
The neck and yoke are worked in the round with circular needle, top down and from mid-back. When the yoke is finished, it is divided for the body and sleeves and the body is continued in the round, while the sleeves wait. The sleeves are worked top down, in the round.
NECK:
Cast on 110-114-118-122-128-132 stitches with circular needle size 3 mm and colour Chestnut DROPS Lima. Knit 1 round. Work rib in the round (knit 1, purl 1) for 4 cm.
YOKE:
Change to circular needle size 4 mm. Insert 1 marker-thread at the beginning of the round (mid-back). Allow the marker-thread to follow your work onwards.
Knit 1 round and increase 32-32-34-38-40-44 stitches evenly spaced – read INCREASE TIP = 142-146-152-160-168-176 stitches.
Insert 1 marker in the middle of the round (mid-front). The piece is now measured from here.
Work an ELEVATION at the back of the neck – read explanation above.
Work stocking stitch in the round. Remember to maintain the knitting tension.
When the yoke measures 2-3-4-5-5-6 cm from the marker mid-front, increase 38-46-46-50-54-52 stitches evenly spaced = 180-192-198-210-222-228 stitches.
When the yoke measures 3-4-5-6-6-7 cm, work pattern and increase as follows – read KNITTING TIP and PATTERN in explanations above.
Work A.1 in the round.
On each row in the diagram marked with an arrow increase as follows:
ARROW-1: Increase 44-48-50-46-58-60 stitches evenly spaced = 224-240-248-256-280-288 stitches.
ARROW-2: Increase 36-40-42-44-50-52 stitches evenly spaced = 260-280-290-300-330-340 stitches.
ARROW-3: Increase 20-32-30-44-38-52 stitches evenly spaced = 280-312-320-344-368-392 stitches.
ARROW-4: Increase 16-16-24-24-24-32 stitches evenly spaced = 296-328-344-368-392-424 stitches.
ARROW-5: Increase 8-4-4-16-8-12 stitches evenly spaced = 304-332-348-384-400-436 stitches.
When A.1 is finished in height, continue with stocking stitch and colour Chestnut.
When the yoke measures 22-23-23-25-27-29 cm from the marker mid-front, divide for the body and sleeves.
DIVIDE FOR BODY AND SLEEVES:
Knit 46-51-53-58-62-69 (= half back piece), place the next 60-64-68-76-76-80 stitches on a thread/stitch holder for the sleeve, cast on 8-8-12-12-16-16 stitches (= mid-under sleeve), knit 92-102-106-116-124-138 (= front piece), place the next 60-64-68-76-76-80 stitches on a thread/stitch holder for the sleeve, cast on 8-8-12-12-16-16 stitches (= mid-under sleeve), knit the last 46-51-53-58-62-69 stitches (= half back piece). The body and sleeves are finished separately.
BODY:
= 200-220-236-256-280-308 stitches. Insert 1 marker in the middle of the 8-8-12-12-16-16 cast-on stitches under 1 sleeve. Begin the new round by the marker. Work stocking stitch in the round with colour Chestnut until the piece measures 44-46-48-50-51-53 cm from the marker mid-front.
Knit 1 round and increase 42-42-46-52-58-60 stitches evenly spaced = 242-262-282-308-338-368 stitches.
Change to circular needle size 3 mm. Work rib (knit 1, purl 1) for 4-4-4-4-5-5 cm. Cast off slightly loosely. The jumper measures approx. 48-50-52-54-55-57 cm from the marker mid-front and 53-55-57-59-61-63 cm from the shoulder.
SLEEVES:
Place the 60-64-68-76-76-80 sleeve-stitches from one stitch holder onto short circular needle/double pointed needles size 4 mm and knit up 1 stitch in each of the 8-8-12-12-16-16 stitches cast on under the sleeve using colour Chestnut = 68-72-80-88-92-96 stitches. Insert a marker-thread in the middle of the 8-8-12-12-16-16 stitches under the sleeve. Allow the marker-thread to follow your work onwards. It is used when decreasing under the sleeve.
Start by the marker-thread. Work stocking stitch in the round with colour Chestnut.
When the sleeve measures 4-4-3-3-3-3 cm, decrease 2 stitches mid-under the sleeve (read DECREASE TIP) every 8-6-4-2½-2½-2 cm a total of 5-6-9-12-13-14 times = 58-60-62-64-66-68 stitches.
Continue working until the sleeve measures 40-40-40-39-36-35 cm from the division. Knit 1 round and increase 12 stitches evenly spaced = 70-72-74-76-78-80 stitches
Change to double pointed needles size 3 mm
Work rib (knit 1, purl 1) for 4-4-4-4-5-5 cm, then cast off slightly loosely. The sleeve measures approx. 44-44-44-43-41-40 cm from the division.
