EXPLANATION FOR THE PATTERN:

----------------------------------------------------------

SIZE TIP:
The dog blanket is written in 4 sizes, but all dogs are different - the blanket can be adjusted according to the dog who will be using it. Work more or fewer squares depending on what fits. The squares going around the belly and chest can be placed as shown in A.2 or try the blanket along the way and fasten the squares where they fit best on the dog. The squares under the belly are buttoned through the holes in granny squares and can thus be adjusted.

See diagrams A.1 and A.2.

DOG BLANKET – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE:
Piece consist of granny squares that are worked together. Button blanket under the belly. Read SIZE TIP in explanation above before beginning the piece.

DOG BLANKET:
Work granny squares according to A.1, read COLOUR COMBINATION and COLOUR CHANGE in explanation above. 1 square measures approx. 6 x 6 cm in XS and S and approx. 8 x 8 cm in size M and L. Remember to follow the crochet tension!
Work 13-21-22-27 squares in total, the squares are divided in the 4 colour combinations as follows:
SQUARE 1: Work 3-5-7-8 pieces
SQUARE 2: Work 3-6-7-9 pieces
SQUARE 3: Work 4-7-6-8 pieces
SQUARE 4: Work 3-3-2-2 pieces

ASSEMBLY:
Place the squares as shown in diagram A.2, make sure that they are placed right side up.
Begin to assemble the squares in the middle (= 9-16-16-20 squares that form a square/rectangle), then assemble the squares that make up the strap around the neck and under the belly. First work squares together across and then alongside.
Use hook size 3.5 mm and colour Off White to crochet squares together as follows:
Place 2 squares edge to edge so that they can be worked together.
Start in the corners and work as follows: * Insert hook from right side and down through back loop on one square, then insert hook from right side and down through back loop on the other square, get the yarn and pull yarn through both loop on hook *, work from *-* until these 2 squares are worked together along the side of square, work 1 chain stitch and work from *-* along the next 2 squares the same way. Work the same way until all squares on this row have been worked together. Work all squares together across. When all squares have been worked together across, work all squares together along the side the same side.
You can fold the corners on the 2 squares that are marked with white start in on the wrong side and fasten with a stitch for a more rounded shape. Sew 2-2-3-3 button on square marked with black stars. Button through holes in granny square so that the blanket fits nicely around the belly.
