EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN:
-------------------------------------------------------
KNITTING TIP:
When working short rows, there will be a small hole after each turn. This hole can be closed by tightening the strand or using the technique German Short Rows as follows:
Slip the first stitch purl-wise, take the strand over the right needle and tighten well from the back (2 loops on the needle). These loops are worked together on the next row.
INCREASE TIP:
Work until there is 1 stitch left before the marker-stitch, make 1 yarn over, knit 1 (marker-stitch), make 1 yarn over (2 increased stitches).
Repeat at the second marker-stitch (4 increased stitches). On the next round, knit the yarn overs twisted to avoid holes. Subsequent increases are worked on the outside of the new stitches, which are continued in stocking stitch.
DECREASE TIP (for inside-leg):
Start 3 stitches before the marker, knit 2 together, knit 2 (marker sits between these 2 stitches) slip 1 stitch knit-wise, knit 1 and pass the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch

TROUSERS - SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE:
The piece is worked top down in the round, with circular needle, then divided for the 2 legs which are finished separately in the round, with double pointed needles.
TROUSERS:
Cast on 124-130-138-147-156-166 stitches with circular needle size 3 mm and DROPS Fiesta.
Work stocking stitch in the round for 4 cm. Purl 1 round (= folding-edge). Continue with stocking stitch until the piece measures 8 cm from the cast-on edge. Change to circular needle size 4 mm. Knit 1 round and decrease 10-12-12-13-14-14 stitches evenly on this round = 114-118-126-134-142-152 stitches. Insert 1 marker in the first stitch (= mid-back), count 56-58-62-66-70-75 stitches and insert 1 marker in the next stitch (= mid-front). Allow the markers to follow your work onwards.
In addition, insert 1 marker-thread mid-front: the piece is now measured from here.
Now work an elevation so the back of the trousers is 3-3-3-4-4-4 cm higher than the front.
Read KNITTING TIP in explanations above. Start by the marker mid-back and work stocking stitch back and forth as follows:
ROW 1 (right side): Knit 7-7-7-6-6-6, turn.
ROW 2 (wrong side): Purl to 7-7-7-6-6-6 stitches past the marker mid-back, turn.
ROW 3 (right side): Knit to 7-7-7-6-6-6 stitches past the previous turn on the right side, turn.
ROW 4 (wrong side): Purl to 7-7-7-6-6-6 stitches past the previous turn on the wrong side, turn. Remember to maintain the knitting tension.
Repeat ROWS 1 to 4, 1-1-1-2-2-2 more times (8-8-8-12-12-12 rows worked).
You have turned 4-4-4-6-6-6 times each side and the last row was from the wrong side.
Turn and knit back to the marker mid-back.
Continue stocking stitch in the round. When the piece measures 18-15-17-16-17-18 cm from the marker-thread mid-front, increase front and back – read INCREASE TIP in explanations above (4 increased stitches). Increase like this every 4-4-4-4-4-6 rounds a total of 3-3-3-4-4-3 times = 126-130-138-150-158-164 stitches. After the final increase, the piece is divided for the legs. To avoid cutting the strand, begin to divide 3-3-3-4-4-4 stitches before the marker-stitch mid-front, working as follows:
Cast off 7-7-7-9-9-9 stitches, knit 56-58-63-67-71-74 (= left leg), cast off 7-7-7-9-9-9, knit 56-58-63-67-71-74 (= right leg). Place the first 56-58-63-67-71-74 stitches on a stitch holder/thread and work the right leg. The piece measures approx. 21-18-20-21-22-23 cm from the marker mid-front.
RIGHT LEG:
= 56-58-63-67-71-74 stitches.
Use double pointed needles size 4 mm and work stocking stitch in the round. Insert 1 marker-thread at the beginning of the round and allow it to follow your work onwards. When the leg measures 2 cm from the division, decrease 2 stitches inside the leg – read DECREASE TIP in explanations above. Decrease like this every 3-4½-4-4½-5-5½ cm a total of 6-6-8-8-9-10 times = 44-46-47-51-53-54 stitches. Work until the leg measures 19-28-32-38-46-54 cm from the division. Change to double pointed needles size 3 mm. Work rib (knit 1, purl 1), increasing 4-4-5-5-5-6 stitches evenly on the first round = 48-50-52-56-58-60 stitches.
Work the rib for 6 cm. Cast off with rib.
The leg measures 25-34-38-44-52-60 cm from the division.
Place the 56-58-63-67-71-74 stitches from the stitch holder back onto double pointed needles size 4 mm and work the left leg in the same way.
ASSEMBLY:
Fold the waistline to the wrong side, along the purled round. Sew the fold down, inserting the trouser elastic at the same time. Make sure the seam is elastic.
Sew the cast-off stitches at the front to the cast-off stitches at the back.
