START THE PIECE HERE:

-------------------------------------------------------

VEST - SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE:
Piece is worked in the round on circular needle, from the bottom and up to armholes. Then finish back piece and front piece back and forth on circular needle separately until finished measurements. Work rib edges around the neck and around both armholes.

BODY:
Cast on 176-188-200-216-224-232 stitches on circular needle size 2.5 mm with DROPS Baby Merino. Work rib in the round (= knit 2/purl 2) for 3 cm.
Switch to circular needle size 3.5 mm. Knit 1 round while decreasing 22-26-26-30-30-30 stitches evenly = 154-162-174-186-194-202 stitches.
Insert 1 marker thread at beginning of round, and 1 marker thread after 77-81-87-93-97-101 stitches (= in the sides on body).
Work 28-30-33-36-38-40 stitches in stocking stitch, work A.1 (= 21 stitches mid front), work in stocking stitch the rest of round. Continue pattern like this. Remember to follow the knitting tension!
When piece measures 19-21-24-27-30-31 cm, cast off for armholes as follows: Begin 3-3-4-4-4-4 stitches before marker thread at the beginning of round, cast off 6-6-8-8-8-8 stitches, work as before until 3-3-4-4-4-4 stitches remain before marker thread, cast off 6-6-8-8-8-8 stitches, work as before the rest of round. Finish back piece and front piece separately.

BACK PIECE:
= 71-75-79-85-89-93 stitches. Work in stocking stitch back and forth and cast off for armholes at the beginning of every row in each side as follows: Cast off 3 stitches 1 time, 2 stitches 2 times and 1 stitch 3 times = 51-55-59-65-69-73 stitches remain.
Continue to work until piece measures 31-34-38-42-46-48 cm. On next row cast off the middle 27-29-31-33-35-37 stitches for neck and finish each shoulder separately. Work in stocking stitch and cast off 1 stitch on next row from the neck = 11-12-13-15-16-17 stitches remain on shoulder. Continue to work until piece measures 33-36-40-44-48-50 cm. Loosely cast off. Work the other shoulder the same way.

FRONT PIECE:
= 71-75-79-85-89-93 stitches. Work in stocking stitch and A.1 back and forth and cast off for armholes at the beginning of every row in each side as follows: Cast off 3 stitches 1 time, 2 stitches 2 times and 1 stitch 2 times = 51-55-59-65-69-73 stitches remain.
AT THE SAME TIME when piece measures 27-30-34-37-41-43 cm, slip the middle 11-13-15-17-19-21 stitches on 1 stitch holder for neck and finish each shoulder separately. Work in stocking stitch, and cast off for neck at the beginning of every row from the neck as follows: Cast off 3 stitches 1 time, 2 stitches 2 times and 1 stitch 3 times = 11-12-13-15-16-17 stitches remain on shoulder. Continue to work until piece measures 33-36-40-44-48-50 cm. Loosely cast off. Work the other shoulder the same way.

ASSEMBLY:
Sew shoulder seam together inside cast-off edge.

ARMHOLE EDGE:
Begin from right side at the bottom of the armhole, and pick up approx. 78 to 108 stitches inside 1 stitch around the armhole on a short circular needle size 2.5 mm (number of stitches should be divisible by 4). Purl 1 round.
Work rib in the round = knit 2/purl 2 for 3 cm. Cast off stitches with knit over knit and purl over purl. Work an armhole edge the same way around the other armhole.

NECK EDGE:
Begin from right side at one shoulder seam, and pick up approx. 84 to 108 stitches around the neck (including stitches on thread at the front) on a short circular needle size 2.5 mm (number of stitches should be divisible by 4). Purl 1 round.
Work rib in the round = knit 2/purl 2 for 3 cm. Cast off stitches with knit over knit and purl over purl.
