EXPLANATIONS FOR PATTERN:
-------------------------------------------------------
GARTER STITCH (worked back and forth):
Knit all rows, from both the right and wrong side.
1 ridge in height = knit 2 rows.
BANDS WITH I-CORD
BEGINNING OF ROW:
Slip 1 stitch purl-wise with strand in front, knit 1, work 5 garter stitches.
END OF ROW:
Work until there are 7 stitches left on the row, work 5 garter stitches, slip 1 stitch purl-wise with strand in front, knit 1.
Work in the same way from both the right and wrong side.
RAGLAN:
Increase 1 stitch by making 1 yarn over, which is worked as follows on the next row:
BEFORE RAGLAN-STITCH:
Purl the back loop to avoid a hole. Then work the new stitch in stocking stitch.
AFTER RAGLAN-STITCH:
Slip the yarn over off the left needle and replace it the other way round (insert the needle from the back when replacing it). Purl the front loop to avoid a hole. Then work the new stitch in stocking stitch.
BUTTONHOLES:
Work the buttonholes on the right band (when garment is worn). Decrease from the right side when there are 5 stitches left on the row.
ROW 1 (right side): Make 1 yarn over, knit 2 together, knit 1, slip 1 purl-wise with strand in front, knit 1.
ROW 2 (wrong side): Work the band as before, knit the yarn over to leave a hole.
The first buttonhole is worked on the first row from the right side after the neck is finished. Then work the other 4-4-5-5-5-5 buttonholes with 10½-11-9-9½-10-10 cm between each one. The bottom buttonhole is worked in the transition between the stocking stitch and rib.

START THE PIECE HERE:
-------------------------------------------------------
JACKET – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE.
The pattern uses both long and short needles; start with the length which fits the number of stitches and change when necessary.
The neck and yoke are worked back and forth with circular needle, from mid front and top down. When the yoke is finished, it is divided for body and sleeves and the body continued back and forth, while the sleeves wait. The sleeves are worked in the round, top down.
NECK:
Cast on 107-109-115-117-123-125 stitches with circular needle size 3.5 mm, 1 strand DROPS Fiesta and 1 strand DROPS Kid-Silk (2 strands).
Work as follows:
From the wrong side: Work 7 band stitches according to BANDS WITH I-CORD, purl until there are 7 stitches left on the row and work 7 band stitches according to bands with I-cord.
From the right side: Work the band as before, rib (knit 1, purl 1) until there are 8 stitches left, knit 1 and the band as before.
From the wrong side: Work the band as before, rib (purl 1, knit 1) until there are 8 stitches left, purl 1 and the band as before
Work these last 2 rows 1 more time (4 rows of rib).
YOKE:
Insert 4 markers, without working the stitches, inserting the markers into stitches, which are now called raglan-stitches and are always worked in stocking stitch.
Count 20-20-22-22-24-24 stitches (= left front piece), insert marker-1 in the next stitch, count 19 stitches (= sleeve), insert marker-2 in the next stitch, count 25-27-29-31-33-35 stitches (= back piece), insert marker-3 in the next stitch, count 19 stitches (= sleeve), insert marker-4 in the next stitch, there are 20-20-22-22-24-24 stitches left after the last marker (= right front piece). Insert 1 marker inside one band; the piece is now measured from here.
Change to circular needle size 5 mm. You now increase for RAGLAN. Remember the first BUTTONHOLE – read description above, on the first row and work as follows:
ROW 1:
Work stocking stitch and the bands as before, increasing for raglan on each side of each raglan-stitch (= 8 increased stitches)
ROW 2.
Work stocking stitch and the bands as before. Remember to work the yarn overs as described under RAGLAN.
Work ROWS 1 and 2 a total of 2 3-1-6-7-6-5 times (= 6-2-12-14-12-10 worked rows) = 131-117-163-173-171-165 stitches. Remember to maintain the knitting tension.
Now increase for raglan as follows:
ROW 1:
Work stocking stitch and the bands as before, increasing for raglan on each side of each raglan-stitch (= 8 increased stitches)
ROW 2.
Work stocking stitch and the bands as before.
ROW 3:
Work stocking stitch and the bands as before, increasing for raglan only on the front and back pieces, i.e., before markers 1 and 3 and after markers 2 and 4 - do not increase across the sleeves (= 4 increased stitches).
ROW 4:
Work stocking stitch and the bands as before.
Work ROWS 1 to 4 a total of 10-12-10-11-13-15 times (= 40-48-40-44-52-60 worked rows: 10-12-10-11-13-15 increases on sleeves and 20-24-20-22-26-30 increases on the front and back pieces) = 251-261-283-305-327-345 stitches.
All increases for raglan are finished: A total of 23-25-26-29-32-35 increases on the front and back pieces, 13-13-16-18-19-20 increases on sleeves. Continue with stocking stitch without increasing until the yoke measures 21-23-24-27-29-32 cm from the marker mid-front. Now divide for the body and sleeves.
DIVIDE FOR BODY AND SLEEVES:
Work 44-46-49-52-57-60 stitches as before (= front piece), place the next 45-45-51-55-57-59 stitches on 1 thread for the sleeve, cast on 10-12-14-16-18-20 stitches (under sleeve), work 73-79-83-91-99-107 stitches (= back piece), place the next 45-45-51-55-57-59 stitches on 1 thread for the sleeve, cast on 10-12-14-16-18-20 stitches (under sleeve), work the last 44-46-49-52-57-60 stitches as before (= front piece). The body and sleeves are finished separately.
BODY:
= 181-195-209-227-249-267 stitches. Work stocking stitch and the bands as before until the piece measures 42-44-46-48-50-52 cm from the marker mid-front. On the next row from the right side, begin the rib and increase AT THE SAME TIME 18-20-20-22-24-26 evenly on this row as follows (do not increase across the bands) = 199-215-229-249-273-293 stitches:
Change to circular needle size 3.5 mm. Work the band as before, work rib (knit 1, purl 1 – remember to increase) until there are 8 stitches left, knit 1 and the band as before.
When the rib measures 3 cm, cast off. The jacket measures approx. 45-47-49-51-53-55 cm from the marker and 50-52-54-56-58-60 cm from top of shoulder.
SLEEVES:
Place the 45-45-51-55-57-59 sleeve-stitches from 1 thread on circular needle size 5 mm. Knit up 1 stitch in each of the 10-12-14-16-18-20 cast-on stitches under the sleeve = 55-57-65-71-75-79 stitches.
Work stocking stitch in the round for 19-18-19-16-16-13 cm. Change to double pointed needles size 3.5 mm and work 4 rounds of rib (knit 1, purl 1), AT THE SAME TIME increase 5-7-7-5-5-5 stitches evenly on round 1 = 60-64-72-76-80-84 stitches.
Knit 1 round. Cast off with knit.
ASSEMBLY:
Sew the buttons onto the left band.
