Book cover weighs approx. 65 g.

CROCHET HOOK:
DROPS CROCHET HOOK SIZE 3 MM.
CROCHET TENSION:
22 treble crochets in width and 11 rows in height with hook size 3 mm = 10 x 10 cm.
Hook size is only a guide. If you get too many stitches on 10 cm, change to a larger hook size. If you get too few stitches on 10 cm, change to a smaller hook size.

CROCHET TIP:
If you wish to work a different size book cover, add or decrease stitches as follows:
LARGER COVER:
Add 3 chain stitches for each extra 1 cm.
SMALLER COVER:
Decrease 3 chain stitches for each smaller 1 cm.
LENGTH:
Adjust to length of book (add more cms for larger books).
CHAIN STITCH:
If you work outermost on the hook the chain stitch will often be too tight; 1 chain stitch should be as long as 1 double/treble/double-treble crochet is wide.
PATTERN:
See diagrams A.1 to A.7.
STRIPES:
* Work 2 rows with colour rainbow sprinkles and 2 rows with colour strawberry ice cream *, work from *-* onwards.

START THE PIECE HERE:

BOOK COVER WITH BOOKMARK - SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE:
The book cover is worked sideways, back and forth, then sewn together to cover both sides of the book. The pattern fits a book-size of approx. 13 cm in width, 18 cm in height and a spine of 2 cm. If you would like to work a different size, read CROCHET TIP above. Finally, the bookmark is worked and attached to the cover.
BOOK COVER:
Use crochet hook size 3 mm and colour rainbow sprinkles DROPS Fiesta.
Work 42 CHAIN STITCHES – read description above, turn.
Now work PATTERN and STRIPES back and forth as follows: Work A.1, A.2 until there are 3 stitches left, A.3. Remember to maintain the crochet tension.
Repeat rows 2 and 3 until the piece measures approx. 36 cm (= width of book x 2 + 10 cm for lining). Cut and fasten the strand.
ASSEMBLY AND FANNED EDGES:
The piece is a rectangle. The cover is now fastened at the same time as working a fanned edge along each side. Lay the piece flat and fold in 5 cm along each short side (= lining). Use crochet hook size 3 mm and colour strawberry ice cream. Start outermost on one long side and work as follows:
Work A.4 along the long-side at the same time as fastening the lining (i.e., the first and last 5 cm are worked through both layers) – finish with A.5 so the number of chain-spaces is divisible by 4 + 3 extra chain-spaces, making the edge of the cover symmetrical.
Turn. Work A.5, then repeat A.4 to end of row. Cut and fasten the strand.
Work the other long-side in the same way.
Place the book in the cover by sliding one side of the book into the lining on one side, fold the book a little backwards and slide the other side into the other lining.
BOOKMARK:
Use crochet hook size 3 mm and colour strawberry ice cream DROPS Fiesta. Work a row of chain stitches to give the bookmark a cord of 22 cm (or of desired length). Work diagram A.6. Turn. Work A.7. Then work 1 slip stitch in each chain stitch along the cord. Cut and fasten the strand to the top of the book cover with a couple of stitches.
