START THE PIECE HERE:
-------------------------------------------------------
SOCKS – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE:
The piece is worked in the round with double pointed needles, top down.
LEG:
Cast on 46-48-50-52-58-62-68 stitches with double pointed needles size 3 mm and DROPS Fiesta.
Work rib in the round (knit 1, purl 1) for 2-3-3-3-4-4-4 cm. Now continue with double pointed needles size 3.5 mm and stocking stitch. AT THE SAME TIME on round 1 decrease 6-6-6-6-10-10-12 stitches evenly spaced = 40-42-44-46-48-52-56 stitches. When the leg measures 4-5-7-8-9-10-11 cm, decrease 2-2-2-2-2-2-4 stitches evenly on the next round = 38-40-42-44-46-50-52 stitches. Continue working until the leg measures 5-6-8-9-10-11-12 cm. Remember to maintain the knitting tension.
Now work heel and foot.
HEEL AND FOOT:
Work the first 9-10-10-11-11-12-13 stitches and keep them on the needle, work the next 20-20-22-22-24-26-26 stitches and place them on a thread (top of foot), work the last 9-10-10-11-11-12-13 stitches = 18-20-20-22-22-24-26 heel-stitches on the needle.
Continue stocking stitch back and forth across the heel-stitches for 5-5-5½-5½-6-6-6½ cm. Insert 1 marker in the middle of the last row – the foot is measured from here.
Work HEEL DECREASES – read description above.
After the heel decreases, work as follows:
Stocking stitch across the 8-8-10-10-12-12-14 heel-stitches, knit up 11-11-12-12-13-13-14 stitches along one side of the heel, stocking stitch across the 20-20-22-22-24-26-26 stitches from the thread and knit up 11-11-12-12-13-13-14 stitches along the other side of the heel = 50-50-56-56-62-64-68 stitches. Work to mid-under heel. The round now begins here.
Insert 1 marker on each side of the 20-20-22-22-24-26-26 stitches on top of the foot.
Continue with stocking stitch and decrease on each side as follows: Knit together the last 2 stitches before the first marker and knit twisted together the first 2 stitches after the second marker. Decrease like this every round a total of 4-3-4-4-4-3-3 times, then every 2nd round 6-6-7-6-8-8-8 times = 30-32-34-36-38-42-46 stitches.
Continue working until the foot measures 12-14-14½-16-18-19½-21 cm from the heel-marker, measured under the foot. There is 3-3-3½-4-4-4½-5 cm left to finished length; try the sock on and work to desired length before decreasing for the toe.
TOE:
Insert 1 marker in each side with 14-16-16-18-18-20-22 stitches on top of the foot and 16-16-18-18-20-22-24 stitches under the foot. Work stocking stitch. AT THE SAME TIME on the first round, decrease on each side of both markers – read DECREASE TIP (= 4 stitches decreased). Decrease like this every 2nd round a total of 4-4-4-5-5-6-6 times, then every round 2-2-3-2-2-2-3 times = 6-8-6-8-10-10-10 stitches. Cut the strand, pull it through the remaining stitches, tighten and fasten well. The foot measures approx. 15-17-18-20-22-24-26 cm from the heel-marker, measured under the foot.
