HAT – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE:
The piece is worked in the round, top down.
HAT:
Work 4 chain stitches with hook size 6 mm, 1 strand DROPS Alpaca Bouclé, 1 strand DROPS Brushed Alpaca Silk and 1 strand DROPS Alpaca (3 strands). Form these chain stitches into a ring with 1 slip stitch in the first chain stitch.
ROUND 1: Work 1 chain stitch – read CROCHET INFORMATION, then 6 double crochets around the chain-stitch ring.
ROUND 2: Work 2 double crochets in each double crochet = 12 double crochets.
ROUND 3: Work * 2 double crochets in the first double crochet, 1 double crochet in the next double crochet *, work from *-* to end of round = 18 double crochets.
ROUND 4: Work * 2 double crochets in the first double crochet, 1 double crochet in each of the next 2 double crochets *, work from *-* to end of round = 24 double crochets.
ROUNDS 5 to 10: Continue with double crochets. AT THE SAME TIME increase 6 stitches on each round as before (with 1 more stitch between each increase each increase-round) = 60 double crochets.
ROUND 11: Work 1 double crochet in each stitch and increase 2-4 double crochets evenly on the round = 62-64 double crochets.
Remember to maintain the crochet tension.
ROUNDS 12 and 13: 1 double crochet in each double crochet.
ROUND 14: Work 1 double crochet around each stitch from the previous round, i.e., do not work in the stitch loops but around the stitch working from the right side, finish the round with 1 slip stitch in the first double crochet.
ROUND 15: Fold the previous round towards you so you can work in the round before that (i.e., work in round 13), work 1 double crochet in each double crochet.
ROUND 16: Work 1 double crochet in each double crochet.
ROUND 17: Work 1 double crochet around each stitch from the previous round, i.e., do not work in the stitch loops but around the stitch working from the right side, finish the round with 1 slip stitch in the first double crochet.
ROUND 18: Fold the previous round towards you so you can work in the round before that (i.e., work in round 16), work 1 double crochet in each double crochet.
Continue with 1 double crochet in each double crochet until the hat measures 15 cm. Now work the brim.
BRIM:
ROUND 1: Work 1 double crochet around each stitch from the previous round, i.e., do not work in the stitch loops but around the stitch working from the right side, finish the round with 1 slip stitch in the first double crochet.
ROUND 2: Fold the previous round towards you so you can work in the round before that (i.e., work in the last round before the brim), work 1 double crochet in each double crochet.
ROUND 3: Work 1 double crochet in each double crochet.
ROUND 4: Work 1 double crochet around each stitch from the previous round, i.e., do not work in the stitch loops but around the stitch working from the right side, finish the round with 1 slip stitch in the first double crochet.
ROUND 5: Fold the previous round towards you so you can work in the round before that (i.e., work in round 3), work 1 double crochet in each double crochet.
The piece measures approx. 17 cm.
ROUND 6: Work 1 double crochet in each stitch and increase 4-2 stitches evenly on the round = 66-66 stitches.
Insert 12 marker-threads without working the stitches, alternately between the 5th and 6th stitches on the round.
ROUND 7: Work 1 double crochet in each double crochet.
ROUND 8: Work double crochets with 2 double crochets in the stitch after each marker-thread = 78-78 double crochets.
ROUND 9: Work 1 double crochet in each double crochet.
ROUND 10: Work double crochets with 2 double crochets in the stitch after each marker-thread = 90-90 double crochets.
