EXPLANATION FOR THE PATTERN:

----------------------------------------------------------

PATTERN:
See diagrams A.1 and A.2.
Diagrams show all rows in pattern seen from the right side.

I-CORD:
It is important that the I-cord stitches are not too loose or too tight, check along the way to make sure the edges are not too tight and that they are even. Work as follows:
FIRST 3 STITCHES:
Work as follows on every row: Slip 1 stitch purlwise with strand in front of piece, knit 1, slip 1 stitch purlwise with strand in front of piece.
LAST 3 STITCHES:
Work as follows on every row: Work until 3 stitches remain on needle, knit 1, slip 1 stitch purlwise with strand in front of piece, knit 1.

SHAWL - SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE:
Piece is worked back and forth on circular needle, side to side.

SHAWL:
Cast on 8 stitches on circular needle size 5 mm with DROPS Air.
ROW 1 (= right side): Work 3 edge stitches in I-CORD - read explanation above, work 2 stitches in stocking stitch, finish with 3 edge stitches in I-CORD.
ROW 2 (= wrong side): Work 3 edge stitches as before, 2 stitches in stocking stitch and 3 edge stitches as before.
Continue with 3 edge stitches in I-CORD in each side while at the same time working and increasing as shown in A.1 over stitches in stocking stitch.
When the diagram is finished, continue the same way, i.e. increase inside 3 edge stitches in one side of shawl as follows: * increase on every other row 3 times, on every 4th row 1 time *, work from *-*. There are still 3 edge stitches in each side of piece and there will be more and more stitches in stocking stitch in the middle of piece.
Remember to follow the knitting tension!

Work until piece measures approx. 87 cm from cast-on edge, there are approx. 84 stitches on needle. Now work as before without increases for 2 cm = approx. 89 cm.

Work as before but now decrease inside 3 edge stitches in the same side as previous increases. Decrease as shown in A.2, i.e. decrease as follows: * decrease on every other row 3 times, on every 4th row 1 time *, work from *-*. There are still 3 edge stitches in each side of piece and there will be fewer and fewer stitches in stocking stitch in the middle of piece.
Work like this until 8 stitches remain on needle. Work 2 rows as before (without decrease), and cast off the last 8 stitches on next row. Piece measures approx. 176 cm.
