Child’s height in cm:

YARN:
DROPS SKY from Garnstudio (belongs to yarn group B)
150-150-150-200-200-250 g colour 25, white fog
50-50-50-50-50-50 g colour 07, light sea green
50-50-50-50-50-50 g colour 09, cranberry
50-50-50-50-50-50 g colour 19, peach

NEEDLES:
DROPS CIRCULAR NEEDLES SIZE 4 MM: Length 40 cm and 60 cm.
DROPS CIRCULAR NEEDLES SIZE 3 MM: Length 60 cm.
DROPS DOUBLE POINTED NEEDLES SIZE 4 MM.
DROPS DOUBLE POINTED NEEDLES SIZE 3 MM.
The technique MAGIC LOOP can be used – you then only need 80 cm circular needle in each size.

KNITTING TENSION:
21 stitches in width and 28 rows in height with stocking stitch = 10 x 10 cm.
NOTE: Needle size is only a guide. If you get too many stitches on 10 cm, change to a larger needle size. If you get too few stitches on 10 cm, change to a smaller needle size.

EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN:

-------------------------------------------------------

INCREASE TIP (evenly spaced):
To work out how to increase evenly, count the total number of stitches on the needle (e.g., 80 stitches) and divide by the number of increases to be made (e.g., 16) = 5.
In this example, increase by making 1 yarn over after each 5th stitch. On the next round knit the yarn overs twisted to avoid holes.

PATTERN:
See diagram A.1. The pattern is worked in stocking stitch.

KNITTING TIP:
To avoid the knitting tension losing its elasticity when working pattern, it is important that the strands at the back are not tight. Use a size larger needle when working pattern if the piece becomes tight.

DECREASE TIP (for sleeves):
Decrease 1 stitch on each side of the marker-thread as follows: Work until there are 3 stitches left before the marker-thread, knit 2 together, knit 2 (marker-thread sits between these 2 stitches), slip 1 stitch knit-wise, knit 1 and pass the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch (2 stitches decreased).

START THE PIECE HERE:

-------------------------------------------------------

JUMPER – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE:
The neck and yoke are worked in the round with circular needle, from mid back and top down. The yoke is divided for body and sleeves and the body continued in the round with circular needle. The sleeves are worked in the round with double pointed needles.

NECK:
Cast on 80-80-84-84-88-88 stitches with short circular needle/double pointed needles size 3 mm and colour cranberry DROPS Sky. Knit 1 round. Change to colour white fog and work rib in the round (knit 2, purl 2) for 3 cm.
Knit 1 round and increase 16-20-20-24-24-28 stitches evenly spaced – read INCREASE TIP= 96-100-104-108-112-116 stitches. Change to circular needle size 4 mm.
Insert 1 marker-thread at the beginning of the round (mid-back); the yoke is measured from here!

YOKE:
Read KNITTING TIP and work A.1 in the round. REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION!
AT THE SAME TIME on each round marked with an arrow in A.1, increase as follows – remember INCREASE TIP:
Arrow-1:
Increase 20-24-24-24-24-28 stitches evenly spaced = 116-124-128-132-136-144 stitches.
Arrow-2:
Increase 24-24-24-24-28-28 stitches evenly spaced = 140-148-152-156-164-172 stitches.
Arrow-3:
Increase 24-24-24-24-28-28 stitches evenly spaced = 164-172-176-180-192-200 stitches.
Arrow-4:
Increase 24-24-28-28-28-32 stitches evenly spaced = 188-196-204-208-220-232 stitches.
Arrow-5:
Increase 24-28-32-32-32-32 stitches evenly spaced = 212-224-236-240-252-264 stitches.

Finish A.1, then continue with colour white fog until the yoke measures 16-16-16-17-18-19 cm from the marker on the neck.

Divide for the body and sleeves on the next round as follows:
Knit 31-33-35-36-38-40 (half back piece), place the next 44-46-48-48-50-52 stitches on 1 thread for the sleeve, cast on 6-6-6-8-8-8 stitches (in side under sleeve), knit 62-66-70-72-76-80 (front piece), place the next 44-46-48-48-50-52 stitches on 1 thread for the sleeve, cast on 6-6-6-8-8-8 stitches (in side under sleeve), knit the last 31-33-35-36-38-40 stitches (half back piece). The body and sleeves are finished separately.
The piece is now measured from here!

BODY:
= 136-144-152-160-168-176 stitches.
Continue in the round with stocking stitch and colour white fog for a further 15-19-23-25-26-27 cm. Knit 1 round and increase 36-36-36-40-40-40 stitches evenly spaced = 172-180-188-200-208-216 stitches. Change to circular needle size 3 mm. Work rib (knit 2, purl 2) for 2½-2½-2½-3½-3½-3½ cm, then work 2 rounds of rib in colour cranberry. Cast off with rib. The jumper measures approx. 36-40-44-48-50-52 cm from the shoulder.

SLEEVES:
Place the 44-46-48-48-50-52 stitches from the thread on the one side of the piece on double pointed needles size 4 mm and knit up 1 stitch in each of the 6-6-6-8-8-8 stitches cast on under the sleeve = 50-52-54-56-58-60 stitches. Insert a marker-thread in the middle of the new stitches under the sleeve and allow it to follow your work onwards; it is used when decreasing under the sleeve.

Work stocking stitch in the round with colour white fog.
When the sleeve measures 3 cm, decrease 2 stitches under the sleeve – read DECREASE TIP. Decrease like this every 1½-2½-3-3½-4-4 cm a total of 6-7-7-7-7-8 times = 38-38-40-42-44-44 stitches. Continue working until the sleeve measures 14-20-24-27-31-35 cm from the division. Knit 1 round and increase 6-6-8-6-8-8 stitches evenly spaced = 44-44-48-48-52-52 stitches. Change to double pointed needles size 3 mm and work rib (knit 2, purl 2) for 2½-2½-2½-3½-3½-3½ cm, then work 2 rounds of rib in colour cranberry. Cast off with rib. The sleeve measures approx. 17-23-27-31-35-39 cm from the division.
Work the other sleeve in the same way.
