EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN:
-------------------------------------------------------

GARTER STITCH (worked back and forth):
Knit all rows.
1 ridge = knit 2 rows.

PATTERN:
See diagram A.1. Find your size in the diagram.

INCREASE TIP (for toe):
Work until there is 1 stitch left before the marker-thread, make 1 yarn over, knit 2 (marker-thread sits between these 2 stitches), make 1 yarn over. Repeat at the other marker-thread = 4 increased stitches. On the next round knit the yarn overs twisted to avoid holes.

START THE PIECE HERE:

-------------------------------------------------------

SLIPPERS - SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE:
The piece is worked in the round from the toe up, then divided for the opening and worked back and forth until the heel is finished. The heel is sewn together mid back then the toe mid front. Stitches are knitted up around the opening and the leg is worked in the round to finish.

SLIPPER:
Cast on 16-18-20-22 (24-24-24) stitches with double pointed needles size 3 mm and colour black DROPS Karisma. Knit 1 round.
Insert 2 marker-threads, without working the stitches, as follows: Count 4-4-5-5 (6-6-6) stitches and insert 1 marker-thread before the next stitch, count 7-9-9-11 (11-11-11) stitches and insert 1 marker-thread before the next stitch. The beginning of the round is mid-under the foot (there are 7-9-9-11 (11-11-11) stitches on top of the foot and 9-9-11-11 (13-13-13) stitches under the foot). Insert 1 marker in the middle of the 7-9-9-11 (11-11-11) stitches on top of the foot and allow it to follow your work onwards.
Work stocking stitch in the round and, on next round, increase on each side of both marker-threads - read INCREASE TIP. Repeat this increase every 2nd round 5-5-5-5 (5-6-7) times in total = 36-38-40-42 (44-48-52) stitches. Continue with stocking stitch, without further increases, until the piece measures 3-3-4-5 (5-5-6) cm.
Now work pattern according to diagram A.1 – find your size in the diagram. Make sure the marked stitch in the diagram matches the marker on top of the foot.
When A.1 is finished, work the rest of the slipper with colour light denim blue. Continue with stocking stitch until the piece measures 7½-8½-9-10 (11½-12½-14) cm. Knit 1 round and cast off the middle 5-5-5-5 (5-7-7) stitches on top of the foot (i.e., start to cast off 2-2-2-2 (2-3-3) stitches before the mid-stitch) = 31-33-35-37 (39-41-45) stitches.
Work to where the stitches were cast off then continue back and forth.
Work GARTER STITCH – read description above, until the piece measures 15-17-18-20 (22-24-26) cm from the cast-on edge. Cast off with knit, leaving a strand-length of 20 cm (for use when assembling).

ASSEMBLY:
Fold the cast-off edge double, use the long strand and sew together mid-back, sewing in the outermost loop of the outermost stitch so the seam is flat. Use colour black to sew together the stitches from cast on edge at the front of the toe, laying the top layer over the bottom so the seam is neat when the slipper is worn.

LEG:
Use colour light denim blue and double pointed needles size 2.5 mm. Knit up 44-48-52-56 (60-68-72) stitches around the opening (the stitch count must be divisible by 4). Work rib in the round (knit 2, purl 2) for 8-9-10-11 (12-13-14) cm. Cast off with rib.

EMBROIDERING:
Use a left-over colour yellow and embroider duplicate stitch over the stitches which are the eyes in each cat.
