Hook size is only a guide. If you get too many stitches on 10 cm, change to a larger hook size. If you get too few stitches on 10 cm, change to a smaller hook size.

CROCHET INFORMATION:
At the beginning of each round, work 3 chain stitches which replace the first treble crochet (i.e. skip the first stitch from the previous round). Finish the round with 1 slip stitch in the 3rd chain stitch at the beginning of the round.
INCREASE TIP:
Increase 1 treble crochet by working 2 treble crochets in the same stitch.

HAT - SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE:

HAT:
Work 2 chain stitches with hook size 4.5 mm and DROPS Paris.
ROUND 1: Read CROCHET INFORMATION - Work 12 treble crochets in the first chain stitch worked.
ROUND 2: Work 2 treble crochets in each stitch = 24 stitches.
ROUND 3: Work * 2 treble crochets in the first/next stitch, 1 treble crochet in the next stitch *, work from *-* to the end of the round = 36 stitches.
ROUND 4: Work * 2 treble crochets in the first/next stitch, 1 treble crochet in each of the next 2 stitches *, work from *-* to the end of the round = 48 stitches.
ROUND 5: Work * 2 treble crochets in the first/next stitch, 1 treble crochet in each of the next 3 stitches *, work from *-* to the end of the round = 60 stitches. REMEMBER THE CROCHET TENSION!
ROUND 6: Work * 2 treble crochets in the first/next stitch, 1 treble crochet in each of the next 4 stitches *, work from *-* to the end of the round = 72 stitches.
ROUND 7: Work 1 treble crochet in each stitch, AT THE SAME TIME increase 0-4-6 treble crochets evenly spaced - read INCREASE TIP = 72-76-78 stitches.
ROUND 8: Work 1 treble crochet in the first stitch, 2 chain stitches, skip 1 stitch, * 1 treble crochet in the next stitch, 2 chain stitches, skip 1 stitch *, work from *-* to the end of the round = 108-114-117 stitches.
ROUNDS 9-11: Work 1 slip stitch around the first chain stitch, * 1 treble crochet around the chain-space, 2 chain stitches *, work from *-* to the end of the round – remember CROCHET INFORMATION!
ROUND 12: * 1 treble crochet in the stitch, 1 treble crochet around the chain-space *, work from *-* to the end of the round = 72-76-78 stitches.
Continue with 1 treble crochet in each stitch until the piece measures 14-14½-15½ cm.
BRIM:
ROUNDS 1-4: Work 1 treble crochet in each stitch AT THE SAME TIME increase 10 treble crochets evenly on each round - remember INCREASE TIP. Make sure the increases are at different places each time = 112-116-118 stitches.
Work 1 round with 1 slip stitch around each treble crochet – make sure this round is not tight. Cut and fasten the strand. The hat measures approx. 19-19-20 cm from the top down.
