EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN:
-------------------------------------------------------

RIDGE/GARTER STITCH (worked in the round):
1 ridge in height = 2 rounds; Knit 1 round and purl 1 round.

PATTERN:
See diagrams A.1 and A.2. The pattern is worked in stocking stitch.

KNITTING TIP:
To avoid the knitting tension losing its elasticity when working pattern it is important that the strands at the back are not tight. Use a size larger needle when working pattern if the piece becomes tight.

HAT – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE:
The hat is worked in the round with short circular needle, bottom up. Change to double pointed needles as you decrease towards the top. A pom pom is worked and fastened to the top to finish.

HAT:
Cast on 111-117 stitches with short circular needle size 3 mm and colour forest green DROPS Karisma. Work 2 RIDGES in the round – read description above.
Then work as follows:
ROUND 1: Knit.
ROUND 2: * Knit 1, purl 2 *, work from *-* to the end of the round.
Repeat rounds 1 and 2 until the piece measures 3 cm.
Work 2 more ridges.
Change to circular needle size 3.5 mm and colour light grey.
Read KNITTING TIP and work A.1 in the round – AT THE SAME TIME on the first round increase 1-3 stitches evenly spaced = 112-120 stitches (14-15 repeats of A.1). REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION!
When A.1 is finished, work A.2 ,14-15 times on the round.
A.2 is repeated in height until the piece measures 22-22 cm.
Now begin to decrease: Insert 8 markers with 14-15 stitches between each one. Continue with stocking stitch and colour light grey and, on the first round, decrease 1 stitch after each marker by knitting 2 together (8 stitches decreased). Decrease like this every 2nd round a total of 9-10 times = 32 stitches in all sizes.
On the next round knit all stitches together 2 and 2 = 16 stitches. Knit 1 round
On the next round knit all stitches together 2 and 2 = 8 stitches.
Cut the strand, pull it through the remaining stitches, tighten and fasten well. The hat measures approx. 29-30 cm.

POM POM:
Work a pom pom with colours light grey, off white and forest green and approx. 9 cm in diameter. Fasten it to the top of the hat.
