EXPLANATION FOR THE PATTERN:

----------------------------------------------------------

PATTERN:
See diagram A.1.

HEEL DECREASE:
ROW 1 (= right side): Knit until 6-7-7 stitches remain, slip next stitch as if to knit, knit 1, pass slipped stitch over stitch knitted, turn piece.
ROW 2 (= wrong side): Purl until 6-7-7 stitches remain, slip next stitch as if to purl, purl 1, pass slipped stitch over stitch purled, turn piece.

Continue decrease like this with 1 stitch less before each decrease until there are 16-16-18 stitches on needle.

DECREASE TIP (applies to decrease for toes):
Begin 3 stitches before marker thread, knit 2 together, knit 2 (marker thread is between these 2 stitches), slip 1 stitch knitwise, knit 1, pass slipped stitch over stitch worked (= 2 stitches decreased). Repeat at the other marker thread.

----------------------------------------------------------

SOCK - SHORT SUMMARY OF PIECE:
Worked in the round on double pointed needles from leg down to toe.

LEG:
Cast on 132-132-144 stitches on double pointed needles size 2.5 mm with 2 strands of DROPS Fabel.
Remove one strand, now work the rest of sock with 1 strand.
Work 4 rounds in stocking stitch. On next round knit all stitches together 2 by 2 = 66-66-72 stitches.
Then work rib (= knit 1 twisted/purl 1) for 3 cm.
After rib, work 4 rounds in stocking stitch while AT THE SAME TIME on first round decreasing 6 stitches evenly in all sizes = 60-60-66 stitches. REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION!
Now work A.1A 10-10-11 times in the round on leg.
Work A.1A 2 times in total vertically but work last round in last repetition vertically, as follows: Work 17-16-15 stitches in stocking stitch and decrease at the same time 3-1-2 stitches evenly over these stitches (= 14-15-13 stitches in stocking stitch), work 28-30-32 stitches in stocking stitch, work 15-14-19 stitches in stocking stitch and decrease at the same time 3-1-2 stitches evenly over these stitches (= 12-13-17 stitches in stocking stitch) = 54-58-62 stitches on round. Piece measures approx. 10 cm from cast-on edge. Now work heel and foot as explained below.

HEEL AND FOOT:
Work stocking stitch over the first 14-15-13 stitches and keep stitches on needle for heel, slip the next 28-30-32 stitches on a thread (mid on top of foot), and keep the last 12-13-17 stitches on needle for heel = 26-28-30 heel stitches on needle.
Work in stocking stitch back and forth over heel stitches for 6-6-6½ cm. Insert 1 marker in the middle of last row - measure piece from this marker later.
Work in HEEL DECREASE - read explanation above. After heel decrease work next round as follows: Work in stocking stitch over the 16-16-18 heel stitches, pick up 16-16-17 stitches along the side of heel, insert 1 marker, work 1-2-3 stitches in stocking stitch, work A.1A 4 times in total, A.1B, work 0-1-2 in stocking stitch, insert 1 marker, and pick up 16-16-17 stitches along the other side on heel = 76-78-84 stitches. Work until mid under heel – round now begins here.
Continue this pattern with stocking stitch and A.1.
AT THE SAME TIME decrease on each side of the 28-30-32 stitches between markers on top of foot as follows: Knit the last 2 stitches before first marker on top of foot together and knit the first 2 stitches after last marker on top of foot twisted together.
Decrease like this every other round 12-11-12 times in total = 52-56-60 stitches.
Work until piece measures 18-19-21 cm from marker on heel – measured under foot. 4-5-6 cm remain until finished measurements, try the sock on for desired length before decreasing for toes as explained below.

TOE:
Insert 1 marker thread in each side of sock so that there are 26-28-30 stitches both on top of foot and under foot. Work in stocking stitch. AT THE SAME TIME on first round decrease for toes on each side of both marker threads – read DECREASE TIP (= 4 stitches decreased). Decrease like this every other round 4-7-9 times in total, and then on every round 6-3-2 times in total = 12-16-16 stitches remain. On next round knit all stitches together 2 by 2 = 6-8-8 stitches remain.
Cut the yarn and pull yarn through stitches, tighten together and fasten.
The sock measures approx. 22-24-27 cm from marker on heel – measured under foot.
Work the other sock the same way.
