JUMPER – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE:
The neck and yoke are worked in the round with circular needle, from mid back and top down. The yoke is divided for body and sleeves and the body is continued in the round with circular needle. The sleeves are worked in the round with double pointed needles.
NECK:
Cast on 98-102-104-110-116-120 stitches with circular needle size 3 mm and DROPS Merino Extra Fine.
Knit 1 round. Then work rib (knit 1, purl 1) for 3 cm.
Insert 1 marker at the beginning of the round (mid-back); the yoke is measured from this marker!
Knit 1 round where you increase 1-0-1-1-1-0 stitch = 99-102-105-111-117-120 stitches. Knit 1 round.
YOKE:
Change to circular needle size 4 mm and work A.1 over all stitches. REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION!
When A.1 has been completed in height, continue the pattern and the increases; i.e. increase alternately before and after the knitted stitch in the diagram (increasing 33-34-35-37-39-40 stitches each time you increase). Increase like this every 3-3½-4-3½-4-3½ cm, a total of 5-5-5-6-6-7 times, the increased stitches are worked in garter stitch. After all the increases there are 264-272-280-333-351-400 stitches. Continue the pattern until the piece measures 14-16-18-20-22-24 cm from the marker on the neck.
Continue with stocking stitch, AT THE SAME TIME on the first round increase 8-24-32-19-25-0 stitches evenly spaced = 272-296-312-352-376-400 stitches.
When the piece measures 18-19-21-22-24-26 cm from the marker, divide for the body and sleeves as follows:
Knit 39-43-46-50-55-60 (half back piece), place the next 58-62-64-76-78-80 stitches on a thread for the sleeve, cast on 6-6-8-10-10-12 stitches (in side under sleeve), knit 78-86-92-100-110-120 (front piece), place the next 58-62-64-76-78-80 stitches on a thread for the sleeve, cast on 6-6-8-10-10-12 stitches (in side under sleeve), knit the last 39-43-46-50-55-60 stitches (half back piece). The body and sleeves are finished separately. THE PIECE IS NOW MEASURED FROM HERE!
BODY:
= 168-184-200-220-240-264 stitches. Continue in the round with stocking stitch for a further 19-20-20-21-21-21 cm. Knit 1 round where you increase 32-36-40-44-48-52 stitches evenly spaced = 200-220-240-264-288-316 stitches. Change to circular needle size 3mm. Work rib (knit 1, purl 1) for 6 cm. Cast off. The jumper measures approx. 46-48-50-52-54-56 cm from the shoulder down.
SLEEVES:
Place the 58-62-64-76-78-80 stitches from the thread on the one side of the piece on double pointed needles size 4 mm and knit up 1 stitch in each of the 6-6-8-10-10-12 stitches cast on under the sleeve = 64-68-72-86-88-92 stitches. Insert a marker in the middle of the new stitches under the sleeve..
Start at the marker and work stocking stitch in the round for 3 cm. Now decrease 2 stitches under the sleeve – read DECREASE TIP. Decrease like this every 2½-2-2-1-1-1 cm a total of 8-9-10-16-16-17 times = 48-50-52-54-56-58 stitches. Continue working until the sleeve measures 24-25-24-23-21-20 cm from the division. Knit 1 round where you increase 4 stitches evenly spaced = 52-54-56-58-60-62 stitches. Change to double pointed needles size 3 mm and work rib (knit 1, purl 1) for 4 cm. Cast off. The sleeve measures approx. 28-29-28-27-25-24 cm from the division.
Work the other sleeve in the same way.
