Piece measures approx. 35 cm in diameter.

MATERIALS:
DROPS MUSKAT from Garnstudio (belongs to yarn group B)
150 g colour 61, light taupe

CROCHET HOOK:
DROPS CROCHET HOOK SIZE 4 mm.

CROCHET TENSION:
18 half treble crochets in width and 14.5 rows vertically = 10 x 10 cm.
NOTE! Remember that hook size is only a suggestion. If you have too many stitches on 10 cm switch to larger hook. If you have too few stitches on 10 cm switch to smaller hook.

EXPLANATION FOR THE PATTERN:

CROCHET TIP FOR CHAIN STITCH:
If you work at the end of crochet hook the chain stitch will often be too tight. 
1 chain stitch should be just as long as 1 half treble crochet/treble crochet is wide.

CROCHET INFORMATION:
On every round beginning with half treble crochets begin with 2 chain stitches - these chain stitches are counted as first half treble crochet on round. Finish round with 1 slip stitch in 2nd chain stitch at beginning of round.
On every round beginning with 2 half treble crochets worked together, begin with 2 chain stitches - these chain stitches are counted as first half treble crochet in half treble crochet group.
On round beginning with treble crochets (5th round in A.1) work 3 chain stitches - these chain stitches are counted as first treble crochet in treble crochet group. Finish round with 1 slip stitch in 3rd chain stitch at beginning of round.

WORK 4 TREBLE CROCHETS TOGETHER INTO 1 TREBLE CROCHET:
* Make 1 yarn over, insert hook in first/next stitch, get yarn, make 1 yarn over and pull yarn through the 2 first loops on hook *, repeat from *-* 4 times in total, make 1 yarn over and pull yarn through all 5 loops on hook.

WORK 3 TREBLE CROCHETS TOGETHER INTO 1 TREBLE CROCHET:
Begin in the second treble crochet in treble crochet group and work from *-* in each of the next 2 treble crochet and then 1 time around chain stitch as follows: * Make 1 yarn over, insert hook in/around stitch below, get yarn, make 1 yarn over and pull yarn through the 2 first loops on hook *, repeat from *-* 3 times in total, make 1 yarn over and pull yarn through all 4 loops on hook.

WORK 2 HALF TREBLE CROCHETS TOGETHER INTO 1 HALF TREBLE CROCHET:
* Make 1 yarn over, insert hook in next stitch, get yarn *, repeat from *-* 2 times in total, make 1 yarn over and pull yarn through all 5 loops on hook.

PLACEMAT – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE:
Worked in the round from the middle and outwards.

PLACEMAT:
Begin on hook size 4 mm and DROPS Muskat.
Work 5 chain stitches - read CROCHET TIP FOR CHAIN STITCH, and form a ring with 1 slip stitch in first chain stitch. Read CROCHET INFO and work A.1 9 times in total around chain stitch ring. REMEMBER THE CROCHET TENSION!
When diagram A.1 has been worked vertically, there are 16 treble crochets in every treble crochet group and 2 chain stitches between every treble crochet group.
Now work A.2 9 times in total on round - begin on round marked with arrow (first round in A.2 shows last round in A.1).
When A.2 has been worked vertically, fasten off.
